Bringing together work from over 5,000 foundries, the Monotype library offers brands an exceptional breadth of typographic choice.

WOBURN, Mass., Aug. 28, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — Monotype Imaging Inc., a global leader in type and technology, today announced that the Monotype® library has grown to more than 400,000 font styles and support for over 300 languages. The milestone reflects Monotype’s continued investment in global writing systems and the creative contributions of more than 5,000 foundries worldwide.

The collection spans iconic classics, contemporary favorites, and a growing range of multilingual and non-Latin typefaces. The broad scale of the Monotype library gives brands, agencies, and designers greater freedom to create using the typography that best suits their evolving needs.

“Your typography should work effectively everywhere your brand shows up,” said Mike Matteo, Chief Typography Officer at Monotype. “As organizations expand into new markets, they need more than just a familiar set of fonts. They need typography that can support different languages, writing systems, and cultural contexts while still expressing what makes their brand distinctive. Expanding the Monotype library gives teams more ways to solve that challenge.”

Typography for Global and Local Audiences

Recent additions to the Monotype library have broadened support for Chinese, Japanese, Arabic, Indic, Southeast Asian, and other non-Latin writing systems, while also strengthening its Latin-script collection. Among these additions are more than 4,000 font families supporting non-Latin scripts, with contributions from Foundry 5, HelloFont, TypeTogether, and more. This wider coverage helps global brands move beyond one-size-fits-all localization, giving creative teams more options to develop locally relevant content while maintaining a recognizable brand across regions.

The growth of the Monotype library reflects contributions from across the global type community. Featuring work of more than 5,000 foundries, from well-known type foundries to emerging independent designers, the library brings a wide range of creative perspectives and typographic traditions to customers worldwide.

“Every new foundry and font release gives our customers another way to communicate,” said Mary Catherine Pflug, Senior Director of Foundry & Inventory at Monotype. “The scale of the library matters, but what makes it truly valuable is the creativity and expertise behind it. As we grow, we want to create more opportunities for customers to discover exceptional typography and for independent creative voices to reach global audiences.”

From Discovery to Deployment

Monotype pairs the breadth of its library with tools that support each stage of the typographic workflow. Together, Monotype’s library and tools enable teams to discover, license, manage, govern, and deploy type across design systems and creative workflows. This connects creative exploration with operational oversight, helping organizations use typography consistently from initial selection through production.
