Researchers gained hands-on experience running Nanovial-based assays across commercial cell sorting platforms
LOS ANGELES, Sept. 2, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — Partillion Bioscience trained researchers to run Nanovial-based functional assays on two commercial cell sorting platforms during the 49th Annual Course in Cytometry, held August 16–20, 2026, in La Jolla, California.
The week-long course paired lectures on panel design, spectral cytometry, and high-dimensional data analysis with laboratory sessions featuring major flow cytometry instrument manufacturers. It drew 54 attendees from industry, academia, nonprofit institutions, and shared core facilities.
“Flow cytometry may be a well-established field, but its capabilities continue to evolve,” said Yoav Altman, host site organizer. “It is important to include technologies like Nanovials because they show attendees how existing cytometry infrastructure can support emerging applications, including secretion screening and cell-cell interaction assays.” Altman co-organized the course with Carina Torres and Cheryl Kim of Cytometry Educational Associates, Inc.
Lowering the Barrier to Functional Cell Analysis
Nanovials make cell function sortable by capturing secreted molecules and maintaining defined cell-cell interactions. Researchers can then screen and recover live cells based on behavior rather than physical and molecular markers alone.
During the course, attendees ran Nanovial workflows on an imaging-enabled cell sorter and a sorter operating in large-particle mode. These instruments are two examples within a broader range of leading commercial flow cytometry platforms compatible with Nanovials.
This compatibility allows laboratories and core facilities to add secretion screening, cell-cell interaction studies, and functional TCR discovery without purchasing a dedicated screening instrument. By reducing the capital investment required, this approach positions Partillion to expand Nanovial adoption across the installed base of compatible cytometry instruments.
Scaling Adoption Through Training
Partillion pairs hands-on workshops with protocols and technical documentation to create a repeatable path from instrument compatibility to routine Nanovial use. Its session at the 49th Annual Course in Cytometry built on earlier training held in conjunction with the Cell-Cell Symposium at UCLA.
