Integration of Thomson Reuters ONESOURCE with Medius AP Automation will help businesses verify US sales and use tax before invoices are posted to the ERP
JACKSONVILLE, Fla., Sept. 9, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — Medius, a leading provider of accounts payable automation and spend management solutions, today announced the integration of Thomson Reuters ONESOURCE indirect tax determination into Medius AP Automation, enabling businesses to verify US sales and use tax on every invoice, within the approval workflow and before it posts to the ERP.
The integration will allow users to access best-in-class tax accuracy offerings. As invoices move through the Medius workflow, vendor-charged US sales and use tax is recalculated against the Thomson Reuters ONESOURCE determination engine, with over charges and under charges automatically flagged before payment.
For finance teams operating across thousands of US tax jurisdictions, ensuring the correct tax is applied to every invoice can be challenging. Incorrect vendor-charged tax can lead to businesses paying tax they do not owe, while missed use-tax obligations can create unexpected liabilities and increase audit exposure. With the integration, as each invoice moves through Medius AP Automation, vendor-charged US sales and use tax will be verified against the Thomson Reuters ONESOURCE determination engine, line by line and jurisdiction by jurisdiction.
“Finance teams shouldn’t have to choose between efficient AP and accurate tax,” commented Gary Hall, Chief Product Officer, Medius. “By bringing Thomson Reuters ONESOURCE determination directly into the Medius approval workflow, we catch the tax error before it becomes a tax problem, on every invoice before it posts, while our customers use the platform they already know and trust.”
“Overpaying taxes to vendors quietly erodes margin. Underpaying builds a liability nobody sees until an audit. Businesses used to catch that months after the fact. Now, every invoice gets checked against current tax rates and rules across thousands of U.S. jurisdictions before it ever reaches their books — Thomson Reuters® ONESOURCE running right inside Medius flags overcharges and undercharges the moment they land,” said Camillo Speroni, head of partnerships and alliances, operations and technology, Thomson Reuters.
Connecting tax, AP, and e-invoicing
The tax integration is part of a broader partnership between Medius and Thomson Reuters spanning tax determination and global e-invoicing and compliance through ONESOURCE Pagero. Medius and ONESOURCE Pagero formed their initial partnership in 2021 and now have nearly 200 mutual customers.
Thomson Reuters ONESOURCE Pagero Network connects buyers and suppliers for the automated, compliant, and secure exchange of invoices and other business documents, including support for Peppol access, clearance and e-invoicing mandate compliance, and interoperability across networks.
As e-invoicing mandates continue to spread across global markets, the combination of Thomson Reuters ONESOURCE Pagero E-Invoicing and Medius helps businesses keep invoices flowing compliantly without having to reintegrate each time requirements change. Combined with ONESOURCE tax determination, this creates a connected flow spanning compliant invoice capture, automated processing, and accurate tax determination.
Together, Medius AP Automation and Thomson Reuters connect critical stages of the invoice journey, crucially helping businesses improve tax accuracy, strengthen compliance, reduce audit risk, and increase finance control at scale.
The integration represents the first in a series of Medius tax-engine partner integrations, with Thomson Reuters first to market. By bringing the tax engine customers already use directly into their existing AP workflow, the partnership helps businesses strengthen tax compliance without adding a separate platform, manual process, or integration project of their own.
Medius offers an open set of APIs and dedicated development resources for third party extensibility. Additional integrations across tax, compliance, and other key financial systems will follow.
