Improving care access and affordability while reducing bad debt by 20% plus

ATLANTA, Sept. 15, 2026 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ — Curae® has announced the market introduction of its new and most advanced Patient Financing solution. The best non-recourse revolving line of credit suite to help mitigate HDHP patients’ challenges in paying their out-of-pocket responsibilities. The newest version of the solution, known as CURAEPay, will reduce the risk of uncompensated care and lost revenue while improving the affordability of patient responsibility payments. It is part of Curae’s Patient Financial Access Platform designed to reduce the risk of uncompensated care and improve the overall patient financial experience.

“Providers needed a true patient financing solution to help patients afford and access their care, to get paid before service or at service, and to be in a supportive position in the patient financial experience,” said Chris Stenglein, Curae’s CEO and founder.

Curae’s patient financing solution integrates with a health system’s revenue cycle ecosystem and electronic health record. Patients engage with the platform through their patient portal or provider website, using their mobile device or laptop at the time of scheduling and through patient statements for existing balances. Patients requiring financing are provided a revolving line of credit at 0% interest to pay for needed care. Patient applicant approval rate runs at 90% routinely, including sub-prime applicants. Providers gain cash earlier and much improved patient revenue collections as Curae pays the balance within 48 hours. Today’s consumer-patient is struggling with HDHP responsibilities on employer-sponsored plans and Bronze ACA plans. They need longer terms to pay for their responsibilities. In addition, many providers require deposits for imaging and other outpatient services before service, and they offer shorter terms of 6 and 12 months.

Curae has also announced that the revolving line of credit is never reported to credit agencies, so a patient’s credit rating is not affected.

Through Curae’s platform, health systems are gaining a reduction in patient bad debt of more than 20% with non-recourse balance liquidation; patient net promoter scores are increasing by up to 30 points; providers are realizing a higher level of engagement in care, especially for higher risk patients (diagnostics, monitoring, specialist referrals), resulting in better outcomes.

Curae’s CEO and founder, Chris Stenglein, said, “We listened to our customers’ concerns about the exploding patient bad debt from high-deductible plans, in both self-pay-after-insurance and pure self-pay.” Stenglein continued, “Providers needed a true patient financing solution to help patients afford and access their care, to get paid before service or at service, and to be in a supportive position in the patient financial experience. It’s available now”. Curae’s clients appreciate that Curae is backed by dependable long-term institutional capital. For example, just one of Curae’s clients has nearly half a billion dollars in credit headroom that Curae stands behind.
