This initiative, announced at the 2023 Society for Neuroscience Convention in Washington D.C., invited research teams to submit proposals for clinical trials using the Zeto EEG device platform. The program aims to support advanced clinical research and to bring innovative applications closer to real-world implementation.

An expert jury panel, composed of professionals from the fields of neurology and neuroscience research, carefully reviewed all submissions and selected the winners based on several factors, including alignment with Zeto’s mission to enhance patient care through innovative EEG applications.

The winners of the 2024 Clinical Trial Sponsorship program are:

Efficacy of Portable EEG Technology in Pre-hospital Triage of Large Vessel Occlusion Strokes by Liqi Shu, MD and a multidisciplinary team from Brown University and Rhode Island Hospital, USA

This clinical trial will evaluate the Zeto EEG system’s ability to enhance pre-hospital triage of large vessel occlusion (LVO) strokes, aiming to significantly improve diagnostic speed and accuracy. By integrating Zeto’s advanced, portable EEG technology into EMS protocols, the study seeks to ensure rapid and appropriate routing of stroke patients to specialized care facilities, thereby optimizing treatment times and patient outcomes.

Gaze-independent visual brain computer interface for use by patients with limited to no eye control by Marc M. Van Hulle, Ph.D., and Arne Van Den Kerchove, Ph.D. from KU Leuven, Belgium

Brain computer interfaces (BCIs) have been serving paralyzed individuals by decoding their brain activity directly. A popular paradigm requires the patient to gaze at displayed targets but this is challenging for patients with limited to no eye control. Prof. Hulle’s team has developed a gaze-independent paradigm and EEG decoder that copes with this issue, which will be tested on patients using the Zeto EEG headset.

The Far-North Remote Online Zeto Electroencephalography (F.R.O.Z.E.) Trial by Marcus C. Ng, MD from University of Manitoba, Canada

The FROZE Trial will use Zeto EEG in an emergency room in the far north of the Canadian Arctic for use by everyday clinicians backed by remote interpretation by board-certified epileptologists. This trial will determine how effectively the Zeto platform could improve patient care in even the remotest regions of the Earth.

Program connects STEM students from the Global South with leading Japanese companies through on-site and online internships

TOKYO, June 16, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — Applications are now open for the Global South-Japan Tech Talent Internship (GS-JTI), a program sponsored by Japan’s Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI), with Deloitte Tohmatsu Venture Support Co., Ltd., serving as the Program Secretariat. The program aims to connect talented students and recent graduates from the Global South with Japanese companies in advanced technology fields, creating opportunities for cross-border learning, skills development, and future career growth.

The GS-JTI program is designed for students and recent graduates in STEM fields, including IT, AI, and semiconductors, who are interested in gaining real-world experience with Japanese industry. Through the program, selected participants will have the opportunity to work on meaningful projects, learn from industry mentors, and experience Japanese workplace culture.

In addition to practical work experience, the program offers various forms of participant support. These may include travel and accommodation support, visa application assistance, and 24/7 support during the internship period, in accordance with program conditions.

The program offers both on-site internships in Japan and online internship opportunities. On-site internships are scheduled for approximately 1.5 months between September 2026 and February 2027, while online internships are scheduled for approximately one month during the same period, subject to host company conditions.

Applicants must satisfy the program’s eligibility requirements. Eligible candidates include individuals who:

are majoring in STEM-related fields, including IT, AI, and semiconductors.are currently enrolled at a university or have graduated within the last three years.possess working proficiency in English.are citizens of countries listed on the OECD DAC List (excluding the People’s Republic of China); andreside outside Japan at the time of application.
