Invenio Imaging Announces First Patients Enrolled in US Pivotal Study of AI-Based Image Analysis Module for Lung Cancer

SANTA CLARA, Calif., Aug. 9, 2024 /PRNewswire/ — Invenio Imaging, a leader in intraoperative fresh tissue imaging and artificial intelligence (AI), announced today the enrollment of the first patients in a US pivotal study of its AI-based image analysis module for lung cancer. The ON-SITE study, a multicenter study in bronchoscopy combining Stimulated Raman Histology with Artificial Intelligence for rapid lung cancer detection, is in collaboration with Johnson & Johnson Enterprise Innovation Inc. and will be conducted at multiple centers including The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center, Corewell Health, Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, and University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

Invenio aims to develop the first FDA-cleared AI to identify cell/tissue morphology suspicious for cancer in lung biopsies

Lung cancer is the leading cause of cancer-related deaths in the United States. This has led to the institution of large-scale screening programs for high-risk patients, which results in an estimated 3.1 million new primary lung nodules identified each year. Despite major sector investment in minimally-invasive biopsy technology, obtaining adequate tissue for biomarker and treatment determination remains a challenge. For this reason, bronchoscopy guidelines recommend rapid-on-site tissue evaluation (ROSE) for lung biopsies.

“ROSE requires that a cytologist or highly trained cytotechnician be physically present in the procedure room, and thus it is not available at many centers performing lung biopsy due to resource limitations,” said Jason Akulian, MD, Director of Interventional Pulmonlogy at UNC, “we are excited by the NIO’s potential to extend the benefits of ROSE to the proceduralist when the service is not available.”

The NIO® Laser Imaging System allows rapid imaging of fresh tissue biopsies in the treatment room. Sample preparation does not require staining or sectioning and can be performed by the existing OR-staff. NIO® Slides are also designed to allow retrieval of the sample for downstream analysis. NIO® images are natively digital and can be shared in near real-time. The ON-SITE study aims to develop and validate an AI-based image analysis module for the NIO® Laser Imaging System that is intended to assist physicians in the detection of cancer in bronchoscopic lung biopsies in situations where ROSE is not available for the sample type.

“Artificial intelligence aiding healthcare may seem utopic, but the future is coming. While still investigational, the promise of fast, in-room, accurate identification of tissue that is suspicious for cancer has the potential to ultimately lead to improved outcomes, a beneficial cost/benefit profile, and personalized treatments,” said Gustavo Cumbo-Nacheli, MD, pulmonologist at Corewell Health and one of the site PIs for the ON-SITE study.

“Enrolling the first patient in the ON-SITE study is an important milestone for Invenio, as we aim to develop the first FDA-cleared AI to identify cell/tissue morphology suspicious for cancer in lung biopsies,” said Jay Trautman, PhD, co-founder and CEO of Invenio Imaging. “Near real-time image analysis on the NIO® Laser Imaging System completes the end-to-end solution for streamlined intraoperative histology.”

About Invenio Imaging Inc.

Invenio Imaging is an emerging, privately held medical device company based in Santa Clara (CA) dedicated to advancing the care of cancer patients by combining intraoperative fresh tissue imaging and artificial intelligence. The NIO® Laser Imaging System is FDA-registered and CE-marked and has been used in over 10,000 procedures across neurosurgery, bronchoscopy, urology, and endoscopy. Invenio Imaging’s first AI product, the NIO® Glioma Reveal, has received CE mark and is available for clinical use in Europe. The AI product for lung cancer that is the subject of the ON-SITE study has not been approved for clinical use. Invenio received a Medical Design Excellence Award and was selected for the Rosenman Innovator and MedTech Innovator cohorts.

The article examines how redevelopment projects and youth programs are reshaping community life across Poughkeepsie.

POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y., May 7, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — What does long term community growth look like when a city invests in both people and public spaces? HelloNation has published a HelloNation article that provides the answer through a detailed look at how Poughkeepsie is combining youth investment, neighborhood improvements and adaptive reuse projects to support residents and strengthen the city’s future.

The article explains that Poughkeepsie is undergoing a period of reinvention centered on infrastructure upgrades, youth programming and redevelopment along the city’s Northside. According to the article, local and county leaders are working to create spaces where residents can learn, gather and build stronger community connections. The article notes that these efforts are intended to improve quality of life while helping the city grow in a more sustainable and inclusive way.

A major focus of the article is the planned Youth Opportunity Union, also known as the YOU, a large multipurpose youth facility backed by Dutchess County. The HelloNation article describes the project as a 19,000 square foot center that will include childcare services, wellness support, tutoring areas, teaching kitchens and both indoor and outdoor recreation spaces. The article explains that the project reflects a larger regional effort to increase opportunities for children and teenagers in underserved communities.

The article also highlights additional youth centered investments connected to sports, education and recreation. According to the article, Dutchess County has awarded grants to local organizations serving young people between the ages of 6 and 17. The article further explains that Poughkeepsie’s City Parks program has introduced mini grants designed to support renovations and activities in neighborhood parks, including Pershing Avenue and Malcolm X parks.

Beyond youth programs, the article details how the city is working to improve transportation and neighborhood infrastructure. The HelloNation article explains that Poughkeepsie launched its first five year paving plan in 2025, beginning with major roadway improvements on Main Street and other corridors. The article states that these upgrades are intended to improve safety, durability and daily conditions for residents while supporting broader redevelopment goals throughout the city.

Another important part of the article focuses on adaptive reuse and environmental redevelopment on the Northside. The article describes how Scenic Hudson plans to transform the former Standard Gage Factory into the Northside Hub, a redevelopment project designed to serve as both a nonprofit headquarters and a community gathering space. According to the article, the project will feature solar powered operations, office space, public parkland and community facilities near the Walkway Over the Hudson and Dutchess Rail Trail.

The article also explains that Poughkeepsie’s selection as the Mid Hudson winner in New York’s Downtown Revitalization Initiative adds additional momentum to current redevelopment efforts. The HelloNation article notes that the funding will support new downtown projects that build on existing investments in youth programs, infrastructure and adaptive reuse. Together, these efforts are presented as part of a broader strategy to create long term stability and opportunity for local residents.

The article concludes that Poughkeepsie’s emerging identity is closely tied to projects that strengthen neighborhoods while supporting future generations. Poughkeepsie Puts Youth, Neighborhood Parks and Sustainable Reuse at the Center of Renewal features insights from HelloNation Staff Writer, community development coverage of Poughkeepsie, New York, in HelloNation.

New online experience highlights Custom Coolers’ Fort Worth-based manufacturing, fully custom cold storage solutions, available inventory, and direct-to-manufacturer service.

FORT WORTH, Texas, May 7, 2026 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ — Custom Coolers, LLC, a family-owned and operated manufacturer of custom walk-in coolers, walk-in freezers, and commercial refrigeration solutions, has launched a new website designed to make it easier for restaurants, convenience stores, grocery operators, food service businesses, and other commercial clients to explore cold storage options, request information, and connect directly with the people who build their equipment.

“Our new website reflects the way we already do business: direct, practical, and focused on helping each customer get the right cold storage solution for their operation.”

The new website, available at CustomCoolers.net, gives customers a clearer look at the company’s capabilities, including fully custom walk-in cooler and freezer builds designed around exact measurements, available space, workflow, and refrigeration needs. Custom Coolers emphasizes that its custom units are not simply standard boxes adjusted to “almost fit,” but walk-ins engineered for a precise fit, whether the project involves a small space or a large commercial footprint.

The site also introduces a more streamlined way for customers to review the company’s ready-to-install inventory. Businesses looking for faster cold storage solutions can now browse in-stock walk-in coolers and freezers in standard sizes, with options to purchase box-only units or units that include remote refrigeration systems. Optional membrane roof caps are also available for each unit.

“Our new website reflects the way we already do business: direct, practical, and focused on helping each customer get the right cold storage solution for their operation,” said Tyler LaSerra of Custom Coolers, LLC. “Whether a customer needs a fully custom walk-in cooler, a walk-in freezer, replacement equipment, or an in-stock unit that can move quickly, the website gives them a better starting point and a clearer path to working with our team.”

The updated website also highlights what Custom Coolers describes as “The Custom Coolers Difference,” including ETL-approved and DOE-compliant walk-ins, premium insulation with foamed-in place polyurethane, custom made to order walk-ins, and durable construction designed for commercial performance.

In addition to product information, the new website helps modernize the customer experience by making key information easier to access online and via AI systems. Visitors can learn more about Custom Coolers’ family-owned approach, direct-from-the-manufacturer process, in-house installation support, and delivery handled by the company’s own driver rather than third-party freight companies.

The new website launch supports Custom Coolers’ continued growth while preserving the personal service and direct communication that have shaped the company’s reputation. The company’s Fort Worth facility is located at 5609 Azle Avenue, Fort Worth, Texas 76114.
