Winners Exemplify Transformative Power of Passion and Creativity in the Nonprofit Sector

INDIANAPOLIS, Sept. 9, 2024 /PRNewswire/ — OneCause, a leading provider of digital fundraising technology, announced this year’s Raise Awards winners during the Raise 2024 conference in Nashville, TN. Over 650 nonprofit fundraising professionals are gathered at the Country Music Hall of Fame September 9-10 to explore the latest fundraising strategies from industry experts, connect with peers, and exchange ideas for advancing the nonprofit sector.

Each year, the Raise Awards highlight exceptional nonprofit organizations and individuals who are pioneering the future of fundraising. This year’s recipients include a diverse array of mission-driven groups, ranging from local innovators to those with a broader, national reach.

“This year’s Raise Awards winners are setting new benchmarks for excellence and making a big impact in the social good sector,” said Steve Johns, CEO for OneCause. “Their innovative approaches and unwavering commitment are driving real change and inspiring others to think differently about generosity. We’re thrilled to celebrate their achievements and the significant impact they’re making in their communities.”

Innovative Nonprofit of the Year

The Innovative Nonprofit of the Year Award recognizes creativity in fundraising by organizations who are thinking outside the box and implementing new ideas. One organization with annual revenue of less than $5 million and one with revenue of $5 million or more receive the award.

Madison Reading Project connects the Madison, WI, community with free books and literacy resources that ignite a love for reading and reflect the diversity of young readers. Their unique READ(y) to Wear fashion show attracts hundreds of guests as teams take to the runway in original designs made of at least 90% paper. Their efforts support groundbreaking projects like the Big Red Reading Bus, the only wheelchair-accessible book bus in the Midwest that gives away free, new books. Madison Reading Project’s innovation has led nearly a dozen school districts to partner with them to encourage children to read more outside the school day and help close literacy gaps.

Safe Harbor Center provides security and stability for at-risk families, children, and individuals, creating a place of safety, health, and hope for youth throughout Coastal Georgia. Their innovative “Champions for Children” peer-to-peer fundraiser blends traditional methods with creative community engagement. A diverse network of nominated champions, with the help of a $500 stipend and comprehensive support from Safe Harbor, raise funds through micro-events tailored to their distinct audiences. Events like “Gallery of Giving” and “Cards for a Cause” bring together local artists, businesses, and community members, resulting in record-breaking fundraising. In 2024, the campaign saw a 76% increase from its inaugural year, driven by over 450 donors, 38% of whom were first-time supporters.

Storyteller of the Year

The Storyteller of the Year Award recognizes organizations that demonstrate excellence in communication and promotion that informs the mind and moves the heart. One organization with annual revenue of less than $5 million and one with revenue of $5 million or more receive the award.

MEC Disabilities empowers individuals with disabilities in rural Oregon through services including accessible sensory spaces, advocating for insurance coverage of adaptive equipment, facilitating support groups, educational workshops, and engaging in community outreach. Through these initiatives, they foster a culture of acceptance, understanding, and inclusion. Their exceptional ability to communicate with empathy and authenticity comes from founder Nikki Sanger, a mother of a child with disabilities. Through heartfelt storytelling and strategic outreach, MEC Disabilities promotes an inclusive society where individuals with disabilities have equal access to opportunities and resources, resonating throughout the community and inspiring action.

Team IMPACT excels at connecting and inspiring through storytelling that fosters belonging, empowerment, and resilience. By pairing children facing serious illness or disability with collegiate athletic teams, Team IMPACT builds transformative relationships shared across all 50 states. Through campaigns like “Every Child Has a Story,” awareness events with thousands of student athletes, media partnerships, and community initiatives, Team IMPACT has reached millions, increased social engagement, and driven significant fundraising growth, with their year-end 2023 campaign alone seeing a 250% increase in donation page visits. Their storytelling strategy amplifies the participants’ voices, creating a powerful ripple effect beyond their communities.

LEAP Group Relaunches HumanView, a Growth Intelligence System Built to Explain Why Customers Behave the Way They Do

Reimagined from the ground up, HumanView pairs statistical modeling with expert analysts to turn millions of real-world customer signals into business decisions

LOUISVILLE, Ky., Oct. 23, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — LEAP Group today announced the relaunch of HumanView, its growth intelligence service. The new version has been rebuilt from the ground up and now has a dedicated home at leapgroupnetwork.com/humanview.

HumanView analyzes what customers say and do across social platforms, e-commerce sites, review platforms, search behavior and user-generated content, including signals from Reddit, TikTok, YouTube, Meta, Amazon and Walmart+ that general AI tools cannot always access. Because the data reflects unprompted, real-world behavior, it avoids the response bias built into surveys and focus groups.

The service works in three layers. HumanView captures signals at scale, decodes millions of records through validated statistical models such as regression, correlation and clustering, and then relies on experienced analysts to interpret the patterns. Clients receive clear, human-validated insights instead of another dashboard.

“Machines find the patterns. Humans find the point,” said Alan Gilleo, CEO at LEAP Group. “The first version of HumanView showed us how much customers reveal when nobody is asking them questions. This version is built to explain why they act the way they do, and to put those answers in front of everyone making decisions, from product to service to marketing.”

HumanView focuses on three areas:

Growth Intelligence: customer motivations and how people perceive a brand and its competitors

Market and Category Intelligence: product pain points, service friction, unmet needs and competitive gaps

Audience Intelligence: new segments, positioning opportunities and gaps in the market

Every model is designed and validated by data scientists and benchmarked before it informs a recommendation.

STEPHEN A. SMITH ADDRESSES WHITE HOUSE DINNER ATTENDANCE, REAFFIRMS COMMITMENT TO HBCUs AND PROTECTING CORPORATE INVESTMENT IN BLACK EDUCATION

Published

By

NEW YORK, Oct. 23, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — Stephen A. Smith, media mogul, New York Times bestselling author, and proud 1991 graduate of Winston-Salem State University, is addressing the public discussion surrounding his decision to attend a White House dinner with President Donald Trump, emphasizing his commitment to the long-term financial stability of Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs).

For Smith, the decision was rooted in a commitment to institutions that have educated generations of Black leaders, professionals, entrepreneurs, and public servants.

“I will always advocate for HBCUs and the students whose futures depend on them,” Smith said. “My reason for attending the White House dinner was to discuss the challenges these institutions face in securing long-term funding and to make the case that corporate America must continue to invest in them.”

Smith acknowledged federal support through the FUTURE Act while expressing concern that political tensions surrounding diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) could discourage private companies from supporting HBCUs. He maintains that these institutions deserve sustained corporate partnerships, philanthropic contributions, and public investment.

“If we truly believe in free-market capitalism, businesses should be able to support educational institutions and charitable causes without fear of criticism or repercussions,” Smith said. “HBCUs have made extraordinary contributions to this country. They deserve sustained public and private investment.”

Ashley Christopher, Esq., Founder and CEO of the HBCU Week Foundation, recognized Smith’s advocacy and decision to engage with the administration.

“Stephen A. Smith has been a powerful advocate for HBCUs, using his platform and influence to shine a national spotlight on our institutions,” expressed Christopher, “His continued support of HBCU Week helps advance our mission of connecting students with life-changing educational opportunities, and we are proud to have him as our ambassador.”

Since Smith became an HBCU Week Ambassador in 2019, the initiative has facilitated more than 15,000 on-the-spot college acceptances and raised and awarded more than $150 million in scholarships, according to the HBCU Week Foundation.

As public discussion continues, Smith is emphasizing the importance of ensuring HBCUs have the resources and partnerships needed to educate future generations and expand opportunities for students.
