What IT Leaders Should Know About Software Selection in 2025 Revealed by Info-Tech Research Group in New Report

Published

on

As organizations increasingly prioritize cloud-based solutions and ESG values, a recently published report from Info-Tech Research Group outlines actionable strategies for IT leaders to streamline their software selection process this year. The global research and advisory firm’s Insights Into Software Selection 2025 report underscores the importance of aligning software choices with specific organizational needs, implementing ongoing evaluations, and leveraging specialized vendors for optimal results. By applying insights outlined in the new resource, IT leaders can navigate the evolving software landscape and make strategic investments that drive long-term success.

TORONTO, Jan. 24, 2025 /CNW/ – Shifts in organizational priorities and technological advancements have transformed the software selection process, with cloud-based solutions taking center stage in enabling modern work environments. These changes have redefined buyer behaviors, creating new challenges for IT leaders tasked with making strategic software investments. To guide organizations through this evolving landscape, Info-Tech Research Group has published its report, Insights Into Software Selection 2025. The firm’s comprehensive research-backed report provides essential practices and actionable insights to help IT leaders address emerging challenges, foster collaboration, and maximize the value of their software investments this year.

“The software selection landscape has undergone significant changes, with the shift to cloud-based solutions becoming essential as remote work took center stage,” says Vince Mirabelli, principal research director at Info-Tech Research Group. “Additionally, businesses are increasingly prioritizing vendors that not only deliver exceptional software but also uphold ethical practices and align with environmental, social, and governance (ESG) policies. This evolution reflects a growing preference for solutions that resonate with organizational values while meeting functional needs.”

Info-Tech’s resource emphasizes that traditional software selection processes often become prolonged, with some dragging on indefinitely. To address these inefficiencies, the firm articulates the limitations of a “one-size-fits-all” approach and emphasizes the critical need to align software solutions with an organization’s unique requirements. Info-Tech explains in the report that smaller, specialized vendors are often better suited to delivering targeted point solutions, while larger providers excel in offering comprehensive enterprise platforms. To navigate this dynamic effectively, the firm advises IT leaders to consider their organization’s size, scope, and specific needs as critical factors in selecting the right software to drive operational success.

The report also calls for the critical change needed in the ongoing software evaluation, urging organizations to move beyond the traditional practice of assessing tools only during contract renewals. Proactive reviews ensure that software remains aligned with business objectives and continues to deliver value, preventing reliance on outdated systems. By adopting this approach, organizations can stay agile and ensure their tools effectively support evolving operational needs and strategic goals.

In its recently published Insights Into Software Selection 2025 report, Info-Tech outlines key factors IT leaders should consider to accelerate the software selection process and optimize their time effectively.

Awareness: Save time by avoiding duplication of existing market research and maintaining alignment with focus groups.Education & Discovery: Streamline efforts by minimizing time spent on tedious demos and understanding the marketplace.Evaluation: Focus on key issues instead of gathering extensive historical requirements to save valuable time.Selection: Validate how potential solutions address mission-critical requirements to ensure the best fit.Negotiation & Configuration: Engage with two viable alternatives to drive competitive negotiations, potentially reducing costs by up to 50%.

The report further emphasizes that the choice of an implementation partner requires the same level of scrutiny and strategic consideration as selecting a software vendor. A third-party integrator plays an equally significant, if not greater, role in the success of the software. A poor decision in this area can undermine the entire product experience; therefore, careful evaluation is essential.

By leveraging the actionable insights and recommendations from the firm’s report, IT leaders can confidently navigate the challenges of the evolving software landscape. Implementing these strategies ensures that software selection processes are aligned with long-term organizational goals, delivering lasting value.

AglaiaSense and Leopard Imaging to Demonstrate Privacy-First AI Traffic Sensing at Smart City Expo World Congress in Barcelona

Published

on

By

FREMONT, Calif. and BARCELONA, Spain, Oct. 21, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — AglaiaSense and Leopard Imaging will exhibit together at Smart City Expo World Congress, November 3–5, 2026, at Fira Barcelona Gran Vía.

The two companies proposed AI-VIVA (Vision Intelligence for València and Arterials) and is selected as a finalist in the fifth urban challenge of Barcelona Innova Lab Mobility (BILM), on the application of artificial intelligence to traffic-light regulation. AI-VIVA combines AglaiaSense’s edge-AI traffic solutions with Leopard Imaging’s patented privacy architecture. At the show, the team will give a live demonstration of AglaiaSense’s signature MS500 and GS500 cameras, with the AglaiaSense AI Box, powered by NVIDIA, which adds local processing to coordinate groups of neighboring intersections.

The cameras analyze images inside the device, using the Sony IMX500 and IMX501 intelligent vision sensors. They count and classify vehicles, buses, cyclists and pedestrians in real time. Raw video is discarded on the device within 400–800 milliseconds, and only anonymous metadata is transmitted. Cities can feed that data into signal-control software to adapt traffic lights to real demand.

MS500: about 2 W average power, 1080p, powered from a standard NEMA or ZHAGA street-light socket.

GS500: about 6.5 W average, dual 4K cameras, with Ethernet, LTE Cat 4 and GPS; powered by PoE, 12–24 V DC or a NEMA adapter.

Both cameras: IP66-rated, −20 °C to +65 °C, mounted on existing poles, so no trenching or new masts are needed.

Bandwidth: more than 95% lower than CCTV-based monitoring.

“Cities want safer, smoother streets without turning every crossing into a surveillance point,” said Leon Luo, CEO of AglaiaSense. “Being named a finalist in Barcelona tells us the approach resonates.”

“Privacy has to be built into the camera, not added later,” said Bill Pu, CEO of Leopard Imaging.

AglaiaSense’s solutions are deployed across North America and Asia, and the company won first place in the Pedestrian Safety Challenge Hackathon, run by the Edge AI Foundation (formerly the tinyML Foundation) and the City of San José. In field tests, the systems achieved detection and counting accuracy above 95%. The City of Lakewood, Colorado, compared the GS500 with traditional IP cameras and LiDAR on real roads and found it more accurate, more energy-efficient, and less costly to deploy. At a high-risk crossing where pedestrians often crossed outside the crosswalk, the system alerted approaching drivers in real time.

Visit us at Pavilion 3, Level 0, Street D, Stand 71. To book a meeting, email sales@aglaiasense.com.

About AglaiaSense
