Rare Carat Now Among Top US Online Diamond Retailers thanks to “Managed Marketplace” Model

Published

on

Rare Carat revolutionizes diamond retail with a unique managed marketplace model, offering competitive pricing, quality assurance, and exceptional customer service, driving rapid growth since 2016.

NEW YORK, March 7, 2025 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ — Rare Carat has emerged as one of the top largest online diamond jewelry retailers in the United States through its innovative “managed marketplace” business model, combining the selection advantages of marketplaces with the quality assurance of traditional retailers. Founded in 2016, the company has achieved this market position in less than a decade.

“We’re neither a traditional inventory-holding jeweler nor a hands-off peer-to-peer platform,” explains CEO Ajay Anand.

“We’re neither a traditional inventory-holding jeweler nor a hands-off peer-to-peer platform,” explains CEO Ajay Anand. “Our managed marketplace model means customers purchase directly from Rare Carat Inc., while we leverage a network of vetted suppliers to offer competitive pricing and exceptional selection.”

This approach has fueled remarkable expansion, with year-over-year growth significantly outpacing the industry average.

Unlike traditional jewelers who maintain costly inventory or peer-to-peer platforms that connect buyers directly with suppliers, Rare Carat purchases diamonds from vetted suppliers only after a customer places an order. Each diamond undergoes rigorous inspection using diamond detectors and verification of laser inscriptions and GIA certificates. The company then handcrafts the jewelry in New York and New Jersey—whether engagement rings, earrings, tennis bracelets, or necklaces—before shipping the finished piece directly to the customer’s home with full shipping insurance coverage.

This model provides crucial protection in an industry notorious for scams and misleading practices. Customers benefit from both competitive pricing and professional verification, with GIA graduate gemologists serving as consumer advocates rather than commissioned salespeople.

Anand explains that part of the business model misconception stems from the company’s evolution:

“Rare Carat launched in 2016 as a diamond search engine across third-party jewelers, but we pivoted to become a managed marketplace during COVID in 2020. This transition has been key to our accelerated growth trajectory.”

Rare Carat operates with low overhead, allowing it to offer competitive pricing with thin margins—passing those savings directly to consumers while maintaining exceptional service quality. The company currently operates exclusively in the US and Canadian markets.

“Our gemologists are instructed to give advice as if they were helping a friend or family member,” Anand added. “This consumer-first approach has resonated deeply, as evidenced by our exceptional ratings across review platforms including Trustpilot, Google, and the Better Business Bureau, where we consistently outperform competitors.”

About Rare Carat

Rare Carat is a leading online diamond jewelry retailer operating as a managed marketplace, where customers purchase from Rare Carat while benefiting from a wide selection of diamonds from vetted suppliers. With a team of GIA graduate gemologists providing unbiased, expert guidance, Rare Carat has established itself as a trusted name in fine jewelry retail. For more information, visit rarecarat.com.

Canada’s investment industry and business community welcome Ontario’s commitment to join regulatory passport system

Industry, business, and professional associations voice strong support for greater regulatory harmonization and a more competitive Canadian economy

TORONTO, July 23, 2026 /CNW/ — Canada’s investment industry and business community welcome Ontario’s commitment to join the country’s securities regulatory passport system, marking a significant step toward greater regulatory harmonization and a more efficient and competitive Canadian capital market.

A coalition of associations representing firms and professionals from across Canada’s capital markets sector, together with a broad cross-section of the business community, strongly supports the announcement by Ontario Finance Minister Peter Bethlenfalvy at the recent meeting of Canada’s finance ministers, convened by Federal Finance Minister Francois-Philippe Champagne, and supported by their provincial and territorial counterparts.

Ontario’s participation in the passport system will make it easier for firms to operate and raise capital across Canada, while reducing unnecessary regulatory duplication and costs. More broadly, it advances the national effort to remove internal trade barriers, boost productivity and strengthen Canada’s economic competitiveness.

The passport system has already demonstrated that greater regulatory coordination can be achieved while respecting provincial jurisdiction. Participating regulators retain their authority and distinct roles, while firms benefit from a system in which decisions made by a principal regulator are generally recognized across participating jurisdictions.

Ontario’s participation creates an opportunity not only to reduce duplication but also to strengthen the system as a whole. A more integrated model can better leverage the expertise and capabilities of regulators across the country, creating opportunities for greater regulatory specialization and leadership in areas where individual jurisdictions have particular strengths.

For firms, greater harmonization means more predictable regulation, less duplication, and a more efficient regulatory environment. For investors, it supports a framework that maintains strong investor protection while responding more effectively to an increasingly complex and competitive global marketplace. For Canada, it helps create a more attractive environment in which to invest, launch new products and raise capital.

This coalition stands ready to work with governments and securities regulators across Canada to support Ontario’s timely and successful implementation of the passport system and build on the progress already made. We encourage all parties to move quickly to bring Ontario into the existing framework, while preserving the features that have made the passport system work so effectively.

Ontario’s commitment is a milestone and an important step toward a more integrated, efficient and competitive capital market that will strengthen the Canadian economy and better serve Canadian investors and businesses.
