New release ‘Beechworth’s Telegraph’ by Leo Nette reveals how morse code transformed Australia’s gold rush frontier

Published

This historical book chronicles the rise of a booming gold town, the arrival of revolutionary communications technology, and the people who connected a nation

BEECHWORTH, Australia, July 16, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — When gold was discovered in the Beechworth region in 1852, thousands of fortune seekers flooded into northeastern Victoria from across Australia and around the world. Virtually overnight, Beechworth transformed from a remote settlement into one of the colony’s most prosperous and chaotic boomtowns.

The promise of wealth was irresistible. More than 14,000 ounces of gold were transported to Melbourne every fortnight, fueling economic growth and attracting a diverse population eager to strike it rich. Within a year, Beechworth boasted a thriving commercial district and more than sixty hotels, earning a reputation as Australia’s version of the Wild West. Outlaws, claim jumpers, disputes over water rights, racial tensions, and limited law enforcement created a volatile environment where communication was often slow and unreliable.

Against this backdrop came a technological innovation that would forever change the town’s future: the electric telegraph.

In “Beechworth’s Telegraph” (published by Xlibris AU), author Leo Nette presents an extensively researched and engaging account of the history of telegraphy in Beechworth, spanning from the mid-19th century through to the early 20th century. The book traces the origins of Morse code, the development of telegraphic communication throughout Australia, and the vital role Beechworth played as an important communications hub linking Melbourne, Sydney, and beyond.

Through historical records, timelines, archival research, photographs, and biographical profiles, Nette explores the physical construction of telegraph networks, the challenges faced by operators, and the remarkable individuals whose dedication kept information flowing across vast distances. The book reveals how the telegraph revolutionized communication, shrinking delivery times from months to mere hours and connecting Australia to the wider world in unprecedented ways.

More than a history of technology, “Beechworth’s Telegraph” is a story of innovation, perseverance, and community. It highlights the impact of telegraphy on commerce, government, journalism, and daily life while preserving the legacy of the telegraph operators whose work helped shape modern communications.

Infinitus Launches FieldForce to Extend the Reach of Pharmaceutical Sales and Reimbursement Teams

AI agent solution helps field teams become AI first, preparing for HCP meetings, staying connected between visits, and extending provider and reimbursement support without adding additional headcount

SAN FRANCISCO, Oct. 7, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — Infinitus, healthcare’s agentic communications platform, today announced FieldForce, a new set of secure AI agents designed to extend the capacity of pharmaceutical field teams. Pharma companies can deploy FieldForce to support sales representatives, field reimbursement managers (FRMs), or both, depending on the needs of their organization. For both roles, FieldForce enables teams to become AI-first, using AI agents to extend their capacity across activities before, after, and in between HCP interactions. Importantly, it gives pharmaceutical companies another way to support more providers while giving HCPs access to information and assistance between field visits that can help them better serve their patients.

Pharmaceutical companies are under growing pressure to increase commercial productivity while managing costs. A May 2026 analysis from Deloitte found that sales representatives spend roughly two-thirds of their workday on activities such as research, product and prescribing information, scheduling, and administrative work, leaving less than one-third for customer interactions.

The pressure to do more with existing resources is also playing out across the industry. One recent analysis found that the 17 largest pharmaceutical companies collectively reduced their workforces by more than 22,000 employees in 2025, as companies looked to improve efficiency and prepare for patent expirations and other market pressures. FieldForce is specifically designed to help organizations like these extend field capacity without requiring a corresponding increase in headcount.

Supporting sales and reimbursement teams around HCP interactions

FieldForce gives sales representatives and FRMs agentic support to help manage the work around HCP interactions. The agents connect with field teams’ CRMs to pull together information for preparation before a meeting, capture notes, and update systems afterward. Additional FieldForce agents can be available for inbound calls 24/7 to support providers by answering questions between visits.

For FRMs, AI agents can answer questions about prior authorization status, claims and reimbursement, and help onboard provider offices with approved access materials. Across these interactions, Infinitus Lens provides same-day compliance monitoring and surfaces trends and insights, such as: prescribing trends per provider or provider tier; emerging question themes or support topics; and recommendations for proactive and compliant content or education that can be shared.

Extending provider reach without adding field headcount

FieldForce is also designed to help pharmaceutical companies support providers who may not have regular contact with a sales representative or FRM. A dedicated AI agent can be available between visits, giving providers a direct path to information and support when a field team member is unavailable. For HCPs, that can mean more timely access to information and reimbursement support as they work to help patients access and navigate their treatment. For pharmaceutical companies, it can expand coverage across a larger provider population without requiring a corresponding increase in field hires.

“Our pharma customers need their field teams to cover more providers while managing significant cost and productivity pressures,” said Ankit Jain, CEO and co-founder of Infinitus Systems. “They’re also seeing that the companies embracing AI are finding new ways to scale and operate more efficiently, making an AI-first approach increasingly essential to staying competitive. FieldForce gives sales and reimbursement teams AI support across the work that happens before, after and in between HCP interactions, extending their capacity so they can spend more of their time on the relationships and issues that require their attention.”

Connecting commercial and medical conversations safely

Infinitus FieldForce is built around the distinction between promotional and medical communications within pharmaceutical organizations. The sales agent can support appropriate promotional conversations with HCPs. When a provider asks a clinical or safety question that falls outside the sales representative’s role, the agent can hand the conversation off to a member of the organization’s Medical Information team along with full context. This gives HCPs a direct path to the appropriate resource while helping sales representatives stay within their role.

Built for pharmaceutical organizations

FieldForce brings Infinitus’s trusted, healthcare-native AI to power internal tools for the first time. AI agents are trained on specific data and resources provided by each individual pharma organization along with Infinitus’s proprietary knowledge graph that leverages historical data from millions of payor interactions. This gives pharmaceutical leaders a consistent source of approved information across provider engagement and reimbursement workflows, while providing a way to measure the impact of AI through metrics such as provider coverage, interactions, and cost per interaction.

In July, Infinitus announced its AI-first, human-backed hub solution, designed to streamline patient, provider, and payor communications traditionally managed through legacy call-center infrastructure. FieldForce extends Infinitus’s AI agent capabilities into pharmaceutical commercial and market access teams, giving sales representatives and FRMs around-the-clock support while helping HCPs get timely answers and support to help patients.

AutoRedact recognized for delivering redaction accuracy at scale inside Relativity aiR.

SEATTLE, Oct. 7, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — JND Legal Administration, the U.S. leader in legal management and administration services, announced that its AutoRedact™ AI-assisted redaction tool has received the Relativity Innovation Award in the Act category at Relativity Fest 2026, the premier event in the eDiscovery industry. The Act Award honors solutions that enhance Relativity’s redaction, quality control, reporting, case strategy, or production features, delivering meaningful results.

AutoRedact uses both AI and deterministic rules to find and redact sensitive information like personal data or privileged content within images stored in Relativity aiR (formerly RelativityOne). Legal teams describe in plain language what needs to be redacted, iterate and test the results on sample documents in the Detector Lab, and then apply the calibrated instructions at scale across their document populations. AutoRedact also has a dedicated detector for data subject access requests (DSARs) that redacts personal and sensitive information while keeping the requesting individual’s own data visible, a common and time-consuming challenge in privacy compliance. AutoRedact provides confidence levels for redactions to assist legal teams with focusing their human QC efforts and every redaction can be reviewed and adjusted before documents are produced.

“I’m incredibly grateful to our team, whose expertise and relentless testing made AutoRedact possible,” said Ben Sexton, Senior Vice President of Innovation and Strategy at JND. “We’re excited about what AutoRedact can do for our clients.”

“Innovation at JND has always meant building tools that deliver real, measurable results,” said Jennifer Keough, CEO and Co-Founder of JND. “AutoRedact reflects the ingenuity and dedication of our team, and this award is a testament to their work. We congratulate everyone who made it possible.”

Its eDiscovery service line supports corporations, law firms, and government agencies in deploying the best solutions and technology to meet their goals using Relativity aiR, the market’s leading cloud-based technology solution. JND is one of only two Relativity Platinum Provider Partners.

This award marks JND’s second Relativity Innovation Award in three years. In 2024, Ben Sexton received the Relativity Innovation Award in the Artificial Intelligence category for his leadership in the adoption and development of generative AI tools in eDiscovery. L8P8 Launches Tru8 Connect, Free Messaging That Uses Usernames Instead of Phone Numbers

Messages are end-to-end encrypted, kept only on users’ phones and deleted after eight days

GLENDALE, Calif., Oct. 7, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — L8P8 Inc. today launched Tru8 Connect, a free messaging feature inside the Loop8 app for iOS and Android. People on Tru8 Connect find each other by username, so neither person ever sees the other’s phone number.

Giving someone your number is a bigger step than it used to be. A phone number can lead to your name, your address and the accounts tied to it. Once you hand it out, you can’t take it back. On Tru8 Connect, if a conversation goes badly, you block the person and that’s the end of it. They never had your number in the first place.

Messages are end-to-end encrypted. Loop8’s servers pass them along but can’t read them, and they delete each message once it’s delivered. After that, the message exists only on the two phones in the conversation, and opening it takes Face ID or a fingerprint. Every message deletes itself eight days after it’s sent.

When the app detects a screenshot or screen recording of a chat or a shared photo, it alerts everyone in the conversation and shows who took it.

“People think twice before giving a stranger their phone number, and they should,” said Zarik Megerdichian, founder and CEO of L8P8. “With Tru8 Connect, you don’t have to. And since we delete messages once they’re delivered, there’s no pile of old conversations sitting on our servers for someone to break into later.”

Tru8 Connect is open to users 16 and older. It’s available now in the Loop8 app, which is free on the App Store and Google Play. Loop8 also includes a password manager and an authenticator, both unlocked with biometrics instead of a master password.
