CS Analytical and Lighthouse Instruments to Host Webinar on USP Testing for Elastomeric Components and Systems

Published

on

Joint October 14 webinar will examine how complementary testing approaches can be combined to address the requirements of <382> as part of a broader USP <1207> container closure integrity strategy.

CLIFTON, N.J., Sept. 9, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — CS Analytical Laboratory, an FDA-regulated contract laboratory dedicated to regulatory solutions and qualification testing for pharmaceutical and medical device container systems, is pleased to announce its participation in the first webinar of LIGHTHOUSE’s Autumn 2026 Container Closure Integrity webinar series.

Since December 1, 2025, USP <382> has required a systems-based approach to the functional suitability of elastomeric components used in parenteral packaging and delivery systems. Rather than evaluating stopper material in isolation, manufacturers must consider the performance of the elastomeric component as part of the complete packaging or delivery system and demonstrate fitness for its intended use, including the ability to create and maintain container closure integrity. CS Analytical is pleased to collaborate with LIGHTHOUSE on a joint webinar exploring how complementary analytical approaches can be combined to address these requirements as part of a broader container closure integrity testing strategy.

The joint webinar, “Are You Ready for USP <382>? A Complete Approach to Elastomer Resealing Capacity and Container Closure Integrity,” will be held on Wednesday, October 14, 2026 at 10:00 AM EDT / 4:00 PM CEST and will be presented by Dr. Francesca Caprioli, Laboratory Director at LIGHTHOUSE, and Brandon Zurawlow, Chief Scientific Officer at CS Analytical.

USP <382> introduces a broader approach to demonstrating the suitability of elastomeric components for pharmaceutical use. This now includes evaluation of inherent package integrity with reference to USP <1207>. However, for multi-dose vial systems, this also includes demonstrating that an elastomeric closure reliably reseals following repeated needle punctures. Section 5.2 of USP <382> references the use of deterministic methods described in USP <1207> for this evaluation. At the same time, needle self-sealing represents only one element of the chapter, with additional functional and physicochemical requirements necessary to establish the suitability of the elastomeric component within the complete system.

“One of the most important elements of USP <382> is that it moves the conversation around the functional performance of elastomers beyond those used in pharmaceutical vials, and in much more detail,” commented Brandon Zurawlow, Chief Scientific Officer at CS Analytical. “With physicochemical testing now described in <381>, the new <382> chapter has expanded the scope to cover many functional aspects of drug packaging and delivery systems that incorporate an elastomeric component, including prefilled syringes and cartridges, while also expanding the types and context for testing. No single analytical technique addresses every aspect of that evaluation. By bringing CS Analytical’s compendial, functional, and physicochemical testing experience together with LIGHTHOUSE’s headspace analysis capabilities, this webinar will show how those different pieces can be integrated into a more complete USP <382> qualification strategy.”

The webinar will examine the key changes between the historical USP <381> chapter and the new USP <382> with respect to CCI, including a shift away from the traditional blue dye immersion approach for needle self-sealing evaluation in favor of a choice of container closure integrity methods with reference to USP <1207>, including a new requirement for inherent integrity evaluations.

LIGHTHOUSE will discuss the application of laser-based headspace gas analysis to detect loss of container closure integrity through changes in headspace pressure or gas concentration. The presentation will include real-time monitoring of stopper resealing behavior during repeated needle punctures under both nitrogen and vacuum headspace conditions, as well as the use of a validated carbon dioxide tracer gas ingress method capable of detecting defects with a flow-effective size as small as 5 μm.

CS Analytical will complement these topics with discussion of the additional functional and physicochemical testing requirements of USP <381> and <382> that fall outside the scope of headspace analysis, and how those requirements fit into an overall elastomeric component and package-system qualification program.

Key topics will include:

Why USP <382> replaced blue dye immersion testing with a reference to USP <1207> for inherent integrity and needle self-sealing evaluationThe role of laser-based headspace gas analysis in Container Closure Integrity TestingReal-time evaluation of elastomer resealing behavior following repeated needle puncturesNitrogen, vacuum, and carbon dioxide tracer gas approaches to headspace-based integrity assessmentInherent integrity testing and its role across the product lifecycleFunctional and physicochemical testing requirements under USP <381> and <382>How different testing methodologies can be combined into a comprehensive qualification strategyJoint case studies demonstrating how LIGHTHOUSE headspace analysis and CS Analytical’s complementary testing capabilities can work together to build a complete USP <382> compliance package

The webinar is intended for pharmaceutical scientists, quality managers, regulatory affairs professionals, and manufacturing engineers responsible for container closure integrity testing, elastomeric component qualification, and USP <382> compliance.

The October 14 presentation is the first in a series of webinars from LIGHTHOUSE examining Container Closure Integrity across the product lifecycle. Attendees are encouraged to follow LIGHTHOUSE for announcements regarding subsequent webinars in the series.

Produced in partnership with Fortune editors, Lightspeed Venture Partners, and AWS, the annual list recognizes 60 of the most important venture-backed startups shaping the future of cybersecurity. Selection is based on financial performance, business operations, growth, and cybersecurity market research.

The recognition comes as AI makes phishing and other social engineering attacks more sophisticated, personalized, and easier to scale across multiple channels, exposing the limitations of legacy cybersecurity defenses. Doppel was founded as an agentic platform built to address this new environment and protect organizations across the entire social engineering attack chain. Powered by agentic AI, the platform unifies Digital Risk Protection, Human Risk Management, and Email Security to detect and connect attacks across channels, disrupt the infrastructure behind attacks, and strengthen employee resilience against evolving tactics.

“Being named to the Fortune Cyber 60 for the second consecutive year is a significant moment for our team and a reflection of the progress we’ve made as a company,” said Kevin Tian, co-founder and CEO of Doppel. “As we’ve seen in recent weeks, phishing techniques are becoming more sophisticated, and attackers are more capable than ever before. We’re at an inflection point in cybersecurity. As an industry, we have a responsibility to equip defenders with the technology and resources they need to stay ahead of these threats. I’m proud of what we’ve accomplished so far, and we’re only getting started.”

The recognition adds to a year of continued growth and expansion for Doppel. About the Cyber 60
The Fortune Cyber 60 identifies significant venture-backed cybersecurity startups that have not completed an IPO, acquisition, or other major exit. Companies are grouped by stage rather than ranked, reflecting the distinct opportunities and challenges facing businesses at different points in their development.

About Doppel
Doppel is the Frontier AI platform for Social Engineering Defense (SED), protecting people and brands from AI-powered impersonation, phishing, fraud, and deception through three solutions running on the Doppel Superintelligence Layer. Digital Risk Protection (DRP) sees attacks forming, mapping attacker infrastructure across channels and dismantling it before launch. Email Security defends the inbox, judging every message by the infrastructure behind it and taking that infrastructure down so the campaign can’t retarget. Human Risk Management (HRM) hardens the people attackers target, turning live threats into simulations and training and measuring risk by user and team. Every signal flows through a shared Threat Graph, so a threat seen anywhere strengthens defenses everywhere, and self-healing agents patch every missed detection. Together, they break the social engineering attack chain, advancing Doppel’s mission to protect the world from social engineering attacks every day.
