Cuprum Metals wins Scale-Up Grand Prix at 2026 World Materials Forum

Published

on

ORLANDO, Fla., Sept. 10, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — Cuprum Metals (“Cuprum”), an industry leading copper extraction technology company, has been awarded the Grand Prix Scale-Up Award at the World Materials Forum (WMF) in Paris, France. The award, presented on September 4th, recognizes Cuprum’s technology for its potential to transform copper recovery from primary and secondary sulfides and other copper-bearing sources, addressing the growing global need for more efficient, sustainable, and reliable copper production.

The World Materials Forum Grand Prix is an international competition recognizing innovative companies developing breakthrough technologies that can transform how materials are produced, processed, used, recycled, or conserved. Companies selected as nominees gain valuable exposure to senior executives, investors, industry leaders, and technical experts from across the global materials ecosystem, while also having the opportunity to present their technology directly to the WMF jury and broader forum audience.

The award recognizes the Cuprum’s progress in unlocking copper from traditionally difficult to process ores, such as chalcopyrite, which has proven to be a technical constraint that has limited global supply.

Accepting the award, founder and CEO Roger Pettman said, “I am delighted to accept this award and deeply appreciate the recognition and support from the World Materials Forum. This is an extremely special accomplishment for Cuprum Metals and our technology, particularly given the highly accomplished and visionary entrepreneurs who were part of this competition. The Grand Prix is an incredible recognition of the work our team is doing to address one of the most important challenges facing the global economy: securing a more sustainable and reliable supply of copper. We’re incredibly proud to have our technology recognized alongside some of the most innovative companies in the materials sector, and we’re excited to use this opportunity to accelerate our mission and scale our solution in the market.”

With the continued support of its existing investors, including Lundin Family Office, BHP Ventures, and Woodline Partners, Cuprum Metals is advancing its technology toward full-scale commercial deployment. The company is focused on implementing the technology across two high-impact applications: improving copper recovery through heap leaching of copper ores and converting copper slag, a significant mining and metallurgical waste stream, into valuable copper metal. Together, these applications have the potential to unlock additional copper resources, improve recovery from existing operations, reduce waste, and contribute to a more sustainable and resilient global copper supply chain. Cuprum is now focused on scaling its technology, progressing commercial applications, and working with industry partners to move from successful technology development toward broad market adoption.

About Cuprum Metals

Cuprum Metals is a technology company focused on transforming the way copper is recovered and produced, with the goal of enabling a more sustainable, efficient, and resilient global copper supply chain. The company has developed innovative technology designed to improve copper recovery from ores through heap leaching while also creating a pathway to convert copper slag and other metallurgical waste streams into valuable copper metal.

Cuprum’s technology has the potential to unlock traditionally difficult copper resources, improve the economics and efficiency of existing operations, and recover value from materials that are traditionally treated as waste. By addressing both primary copper recovery and the conversion of secondary waste into copper, Cuprum is developing solutions aimed at increasing the availability of this critical metal while reducing the environmental footprint associated with its production.

Backed by leading investors, including Lundin Family Office, BHP Ventures, and Woodline Partners, Cuprum is advancing its technology toward full commercialization and working with industry partners to implement its technology at scale. The company’s mission is to help meet growing global demand for copper by developing practical technologies that enable more copper to be recovered from existing resources and waste, using materials more efficiently and sustainably.

Six Million Graded Submissions, 150,000 Teacher Hours Returned

Published

Agilix Labs’ BusyBee, the AI assistant built into the Buzz platform on Amazon Bedrock, now grades about a million K-12 submissions a month, each one approved by a teacher.

OREM, Utah, Sept. 10, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — Agilix Labs today announced that BusyBee, the AI assistant built into its Buzz platform on Amazon Bedrock from Amazon Web Services (AWS), has graded 6 million K-12 student submissions, returning roughly 150,000 hours of grading time to teachers.

Across more than 2.5 million submissions on the Buzz platform over the past two weeks, 29% of those graded without BusyBee received a written comment. Of those graded with BusyBee, 84% received one. The 29% says teachers already want to comment on student work. Doing it on every submission is what they lack the time for.

BusyBee lives inside Buzz, so it reads the teacher’s rubric and the student’s work where they already are and returns a draft comment and score. BusyBee never posts a grade. A teacher approves, edits or discards every draft before a student sees anything.

The pace keeps accelerating. BusyBee now grades about a million submissions a month, and Agilix expects the seventh million within weeks.

BusyBee runs on Amazon Bedrock, so student data stays inside AWS security and privacy controls, and Buzz can deploy in any AWS Region, including in-country where a ministry requires it. Agilix Labs holds the AWS AI Software Certification.

“The part that matters to me is a kid opening a returned assignment and finding a comment about their thinking, written by a teacher who had time to give it. BusyBee drafts, the teacher owns every word, and most kids now get that comment. The hours it gives back are for the students who need a teacher one-on-one.”

— Brad Marshall, President and Chief Operating Officer, Agilix Labs

“Systems with hundreds of thousands of teachers are asking whether a teacher can still review every draft at their scale. We have delivered more than 55 million enrollments through our partners to students in more than 200 countries and territories, and being on AWS means we can deploy in-country, at national scale.”

— Curt Allen, Chief Executive Officer, Agilix Labs

BusyBee is available to all Buzz platform customers and partners. Agilix Labs is an AWS ISV Accelerate member and is available on AWS Marketplace. Learn more at www.agilix.com/busybee.

In HelloNation, Real Estate Expert Marcy Basrawala Details What a Local Realtor Mooresville NC Knows That Outside Agents Miss

Published

Local real estate expertise in Mooresville goes beyond MLS data, covering school zones, traffic patterns, and neighborhood details no algorithm captures.

MOORESVILLE, N.C., Sept. 10, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — What can a local real estate agent in Mooresville tell buyers and sellers that an agent from outside the area cannot? A HelloNation article examines several areas where genuine local knowledge consistently outperforms what outside agents provide, and why that gap matters for buyers and sellers in the Lake Norman corridor.

School assignment boundaries are one of the most significant gaps, and the article explains that district lines near Mooresville do not always follow the patterns buyers expect based on zip codes or neighborhood names. A home that appears to sit within a desirable school zone may not actually fall within it, and discovering this after signing a contract creates real problems. A local realtor Mooresville NC buyers work with will flag this early and confirm school assignments before expectations are set.

Traffic patterns are another area where outside agents fall short. The article notes that growth along the Lake Norman corridor has changed commute times in ways that mapping applications during off-peak hours do not reflect. Real estate experts who live and work in the area have firsthand experience with which communities offer better access and which ones feel the congestion more.

Neighborhood character is also difficult to evaluate without on-the-ground familiarity. The article points out that shared amenities listed in a property description may be well-maintained or barely functional, and nearby commercial areas that appear quiet on a weekday can generate significant noise and activity on weekends. A local agent who works in the area regularly can give buyers an honest picture of what daily life looks like season to season, rather than what a listing description implies.

Pricing accuracy is another area where genuine local context makes a measurable difference, and the HelloNation article explains that Mooresville has a wide range of price points where the data driving accurate valuations in one neighborhood may not apply two miles away. Lake access, school assignment, HOA structure, builder reputation, and proximity to commercial areas all affect value in ways that require local knowledge to interpret correctly. Regional averages and countywide data miss the nuances that determine whether a specific property is priced fairly.

During due diligence, local expertise also reduces the likelihood of unwelcome surprises. Real estate experts with years of experience in the Mooresville market are more likely to know which areas have drainage concerns, which communities have faced reserve shortfalls, and which builders have track records worth researching before committing. That accumulated knowledge comes from closing deals in the same market over time, not from a database.

For buyers relocating from outside the region, the value of working with a local realtor Mooresville NC families and individuals can depend on becomes especially clear. Newcomers often rely on what they can see on a screen, including list price, square footage, and commute distance on a favorable traffic day. A local agent fills in the gaps with context about flood zones, road noise, seasonal dynamics, and community character that no listing description provides.

What Does a Local Mooresville Agent Know That Others Miss? features insights from Marcy Basrawala, Real Estate Expert of Mooresville, North Carolina, in HelloNation.

CRTC makes it easier for Canadians to compare Internet plans

Published

GATINEAU, QC, Sept. 10, 2026 /CNW/ — The CRTC is making it easier for Canadians to compare Internet plans and make sure they get the service they are paying for.

Changes to the Telecommunications Act require the CRTC to put new consumer protections in place. As part of this work, the CRTC held a public consultation on how to make shopping for Internet services easier for Canadians. During the consultation, the CRTC received 77 submissions and held a public hearing where it heard a wide range of views, including from individuals, consumer groups, and service providers.

Based on the public record, the CRTC is putting in place rules to ensure that Canadians will have clear and consistent information when shopping for Internet plans. They will be able to see the actual Internet speeds they can expect during the busiest times of day, rather than advertised “up to” speeds, and the monthly price after any promotion ends. This will make it easier for Canadians to compare plans, choose the one that best meets their needs, and avoid surprises.

Today’s decision builds on a series of actions the CRTC has taken to improve consumer protections, strengthen competition and help make services more affordable. The CRTC recently eliminated extra fees on Internet and cellphone plansimproved notifications about expiring contracts, and gave Canadians more flexibility to change or cancel their plans. More work is underway, including a review of the Consumer Protection Codes, with the goal of simplifying and combining them into one code.

Quotes

“Canadians deserve clear information about speeds and prices when shopping for Internet services. Today’s decision will make it easier for people to compare plans, know what to expect, and choose the service that is right for them.”

– Vicky Eatrides, Chairperson and Chief Executive Officer, CRTC
