Not Influencers, Not AI, A New Youth Report Finding On Where Young People Place Their Trust Took Center Stage In Malibu Today

LOS ANGELES, Sept. 24, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — Pacsun hosted its second annual Purpose Summit today at Soho House‘s Little Beach House Malibu, bringing together creators, executives, cultural leaders, and young voices across the brand’s four founding pillars, fashion, sport, art, and music, for a day of conversation centered on the forces shaping the next generation.

This year’s Summit built on findings from Pacsun’s newly released 2026 Youth Report, developed with GlobalData, which found that young people place far more trust in family and friends than in influencers or artificial intelligence. The finding became a throughline for conversations throughout the day, raising a larger question for the leaders in the room around how brands and organizations can build genuine relationships with a generation that increasingly values participation, community, and trusted connections.

The day opened not with a keynote but with a guided meditation led by Tai Beauchamp, Founder, Morning Mindset with Tai. From there, conversations moved across creativity and entrepreneurship, technology, community, sport, and self-expression. Speakers included acclaimed fashion designer and creative director Sami Miró, Snapchat’s Chief Marketing Officer Grace Kao, Rare Beauty Chief Impact Officer and Rare Impact Fund President Elyse Cohen, Los Angeles Rams Chief Commercial Officer Jennifer Prince, Angel City Football Club CEO Amy Taylor, and VP, Jordan Visioneering & LA28 / Founder and Creative Director, Trillicon Valley Jason Mayden, among others.

The report’s central idea, “The Drawbridge Generation,” ran through much of the day’s conversation. Young people, the report found, are pulling closer to family and friends while becoming more selective about a noisy public world shaped by algorithms and inauthentic messaging. Influencers never break an 11% trust share in any category tested. AI presents an even sharper contrast between adoption and trust. While 85% of young people use it, only 2% trust it for fashion advice and 5% for financial advice. Neil Saunders, Managing Director and Retail Analyst at GlobalData, called it evidence that young people are “becoming more intentional about the relationships, influences and priorities closest to them,” even as financial independence slips and social media dependence climbs.

For Pacsun, those findings reinforce an approach the brand has increasingly put into practice through co-creation, bringing young consumers into the conversation rather than simply interpreting youth culture from the outside. The Purpose Summit extends that philosophy by creating a forum where research, lived experience, and perspectives from leaders across culture can inform one another.

“The Purpose Summit gives us an opportunity to take what we’re hearing from young people and put it into conversation with the people helping shape the world around them,” said Brieane Olson, CEO of Pacsun. “Co-creation starts with listening, but it also means giving people a meaningful role in what comes next. By bringing young voices together with leaders across different industries, we can challenge our own assumptions, learn from one another, and better understand how we can show up for this generation in ways that feel relevant and earned.”

That exchange played out across the day’s programming, as leaders from industries that intersect in young people’s everyday lives explored many of the same questions from distinctly different perspectives.

“What stood out to me about the Purpose Summit is how connected these conversations really are,” said Amy Taylor, CEO of Angel City Football Club. “Sport can be an incredibly powerful place for people to find identity, belonging and community, but those ideas extend far beyond the field. Bringing leaders from different corners of culture together with young people themselves creates an opportunity to hear perspectives we might not encounter every day and think differently about the communities we’re building for the future.”

The Summit also marked the first public appearance of the second cohort of Pacsun’s Youth Council, bringing the idea of co-creation directly into the room. The Council gives young consumers an ongoing voice within Pacsun through strategy sessions, workshops, and executive mentorship, creating a direct feedback loop between the brand and the generation it serves. The new cohort was introduced in a session moderated by Kate Nishimura, Deputy Editor at Sourcing Journal, featuring new Youth Council members Sophia Johnson, Iya’Nique Kelly, Max Yu, Ashton Thomas, and Mia Mendoza.

Pacsun also unveiled its inaugural Youth 25™, recognizing 25 creators, artists, athletes, and entrepreneurs shaping the next generation across fashion, art, sport, music, technology, and digital culture. As part of the Summit, Pacsun presented Youth 25 honors in person to Grace Kao and Michelle K. Hanabusa celebrating their contributions to culture and the communities they influence.

The day included:

Now in its second year, the Purpose Summit reflects Pacsun’s broader approach to staying connected to youth culture through ongoing dialogue and co-creation. Alongside the Summit, the Youth Report, Youth Council, PS Community Hub, and newly introduced Ambassador Program give young people multiple ways to share their perspectives and participate in shaping the brand. Together, these initiatives help Pacsun continually listen, learn, and evolve alongside its community across fashion, sport, art, and music.

Envision Energy Launches Model T – EN175/8.0 Onshore Wind Turbine, Advancing Plant-Wide Optimization and Lifecycle Value for Future Energy Systems

Published

on

By

HAMBURG, Germany, Sept. 25, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — Envision Energy, a global leader in green technology, today launched the Model T – EN175/8.0, an 8 MW-class smart onshore wind turbine featuring a 175-meter rotor, at WindEnergy Hamburg. Designed for medium-wind-speed sites and complex operating environments, the new turbine combines advanced aerodynamics, integrated drivetrain technologies and AI-powered autonomous optimization to deliver greater energy yield, reliability and lifecycle value.

The EN175/8.0 is built on Envision’s proven Model T platform, which has accumulated more than 4,000 units ordered and around 1,500 units installed to date. Building on this platform experience, the new turbine integrates Envision’s sixth-generation low-noise aerodynamic technology, in-house designed and manufactured key components, and Galileo autonomous optimization control, powered by Envision’s Tianji Weather Foundation Model and Dubhe Energy Foundation Model.

“The next generation of wind power is not simply about making turbines larger. It is about making them smarter, more reliable and more valuable throughout their lifecycle.” said Lou Yimin, Senior Vice President & Chief Product Officer of Envision Energy, “With the Model T – EN175/8.0, we are combining proven platform engineering with AI-powered autonomous optimization to help customers capture more energy, operate more efficiently and create greater value at the plant level.”

Higher Energy Yield, Lower Lifecycle Economics

With a 175-meter rotor and 8.0 MW rated capacity, the EN175/8.0 is designed to increase energy capture at medium-wind-speed sites. Compared with existing models, the turbine can deliver a 2–12% increase in energy yield, depending on site conditions. Its lifecycle economics are further supported by Envision’s vertically integrated approach to the design and manufacturing of key components, including blades, gearboxes and generators. Coordinated optimization across components, system integration and manufacturing helps improve performance while supporting quality and cost control throughout the turbine lifecycle.

The turbine also incorporates Envision’s sixth-generation low-noise airfoils and newly developed serrated trailing edges, validated through wind-tunnel testing. The EN175/8.0 targets a sound power level of 107 dB(A), with optional low-noise operating modes available for noise-sensitive projects.

Proven Platform, Designed for Reliability

The EN175/8.0 builds on the Model T platform, which has been deployed at scale and accumulated extensive operating experience. Envision’s vertically integrated system approach enables coordinated optimization across the turbine’s major components. In-house design and manufacturing of blades, gearboxes and generators provide greater control over component performance, manufacturing quality and system integration.

The platform is also supported by industrial-scale testing capabilities covering materials, components and subsystems. Test results are incorporated into the Galileo digital twin, enabling continuous validation and refinement of design models.

Built for Diverse and Challenging Conditions

The EN175/8.0 is designed for diverse and challenging onshore environments, supporting deployment across complex wind conditions and mountainous terrain, with configurations available for regions with higher extreme wind speeds. The turbine offers both normal- and cold-climate configurations. For icing-prone environments, an optional blade ice-prevention system is also available. The system incorporates multiple heating zones for more precise thermal control and is integrated with the turbine’s lightning protection architecture.

Grid-Ready, AI-Powered for Autonomous Optimization

As power systems incorporate increasing shares of variable renewable energy, wind turbines need to contribute more actively to grid stability. The EN175/8.0 combines full-power converter architecture with advanced grid-forming controls, enabling stronger voltage and frequency support, rapid fault ride-through response and reliable operation in weak-grid conditions.

A key differentiator of the EN175/8.0 is its AI-enabled control architecture. Powered by Envision’s Tianji Weather Foundation Model and Dubhe Energy Foundation Model, the turbine is able to perceive operating conditions, analyze real-time data and autonomously adjust control strategies. Rather than relying solely on predefined control rules, Galileo continuously adapts turbine operation to changing wind and operating conditions. This enables more intelligent optimization across multiple variables, helping improve efficiency, stability and overall turbine performance while reducing the need for manual intervention.

From Turbine Optimization to Plant-Wide Value

The Model T platform is designed to extend beyond the optimization of an individual turbine. Through integrated coordination of wind, solar, energy storage and industrial loads, Envision aims to help customers optimize renewable power assets as an integrated energy system. This approach enables value to be optimized across the full chain, from energy generation and asset operation to power management and plant-level economics, helping customers improve flexibility, efficiency and overall returns.

“The future of wind is increasingly connected to the wider energy system,” added Lou. “The value of a turbine should not stop at the electricity it generates. By connecting AI, wind, storage, solar and loads, we can move from optimizing individual machines to optimizing the value of the entire future energy systems.”

The Model T – EN175/8.0 is part of Envision’s broader strategy to develop intelligent renewable energy technologies that combine high-performance hardware, AI and digital intelligence to support the evolution of future energy systems.
