Cosmos Provides Connectivity to Help Banks Participate in Swift’s Ledger for 24/7 Cross-Border Payments

Published

The Cosmos Tokenization Suite gives financial institutions access to capabilities like 24/7 cross-border payments by integrating with key networks like Swift’s blockchain-based ledger.

NEW YORK, Sept. 28, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — Cosmos helps banks and financial institutions connect their core ledger to EVM and Hyperledger Besu environments, such as the one powering Swift’s blockchain-based shared ledger, to support use cases like 24/7 cross-border payments.

The Cosmos Tokenization Suite gives banks the infrastructure to stand up their own tokenized deposit ledgers, synchronize them with existing cores, like Fiserv, FIS, Jack Henry, Temenos, and Hogan, and connect them with networks like Swift’s ledger, Canton, Partior, Ethereum, Solana, and more. Swift’s ledger provides secure messaging and orchestration, while the Cosmos platform gives financial institutions a seamless path to move customer funds across counterparties.

Building on that foundation, Cosmos accelerates three key areas for banks participating in the Swift pilot. The first is integration between core banking systems and digital ledgers, including EVM and Hyperledger-based environments, like Swift’s ledger. It also accelerates interoperability across networks and counterparties and, in the future, will support engagement with correspondent banks to enable broader participation.

“For our clients, this is about helping them connect their core ledger to external networks via their existing infrastructure and relationships. Banks need to offer customers 24/7 payments and real-time treasury experiences. Cosmos offers the connectivity to make that possible across counterparties, starting now,” said Maghnus Mareneck, Co-CEO, Cosmos.

Beyond payments, the Cosmos Tokenization Suite unlocks a broader set of use cases, such as real-time treasury management, instant cash sweeps, and programmable money flows.

Swift’s ledger provides a secure orchestration layer that enables 24/7 cross-border payments using tokenized deposits, while keeping those deposits on banks’ balance sheets and preserving the benefits of commercial bank money. With Cosmos, the tokenized deposits remain on the issuing bank’s ledger; Swift’s ledger securely orchestrates the movement of funds between participating institutions, including overnight and on weekends, before completing final settlement through existing systems.

Today, value equivalent to global GDP moves across the Swift network every two to three days, and 75% of transactions on Swift already reach the end bank within ten minutes. The addition of a blockchain-based ledger to Swift’s infrastructure does not alter its role as a global financial messaging network. Final settlement continues through agreed mechanisms, including real-time gross settlement systems. This allows banks to extend payment availability beyond traditional operating hours while retaining their existing settlement arrangements.

The MVP of Swift’s ledger was developed in collaboration with more than 40 financial institutions globally. Seventeen first-mover financial institutions are now putting it into practice, piloting tokenized deposit transactions across a range of use cases. The initiative builds on the Swift co-operative’s global reach of more than 12,500 financial institutions and corporates across over 200 markets.

Microfluidics Market to Reach US$ 43 Bn by 2031, Growing at 9.8% CAGR as Point-of-Care and Organ-on-Chip Adoption Expands: New Report by Wissen Research

Published

on

By

SHERIDAN, Wyo., Sept. 28, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — The global microfluidics market is projected to grow from USD 26.9 billion in 2026 to USD 43 billion by 2031, registering a CAGR of 9.8% during the forecast period (2026–2031), according to a new study by Wissen Research.

Growth is being driven by rising demand for point-of-care testing and decentralized diagnostics, expanding use of precision medicine, and sustained pharmaceutical and biotech investment in organ-on-a-chip and droplet-based single-cell systems. Microfluidic platforms handle liquids at the microliter and nanoliter scale inside engineered channels, which cuts sample and reagent volumes, speeds up analysis, and moves testing closer to the patient, the research bench, and the field.

Where the Technology Is Heading: Integrated Chips, Smarter Readers

The most visible shift in microfluidics is the move from single-function chips, which run one test, to fully integrated sample-to-answer cartridges that combine sample preparation, amplification, and detection on a single chip. Manufacturers are extending chip integration into multifunctionality and coupling the hardware with AI-driven analysis software, allowing platforms once confined to specialized labs to operate in clinical and field environments.

Machine-learning algorithms are increasingly built into handheld and benchtop readers to analyze fluorescence, morphology, and other optical signals, supporting automated interpretation, quantitative output, and the standardized data capture and traceability that regulated diagnostic workflows require.

In pharmaceutical research, organ-on-a-chip models are gaining ground as a complement to conventional cell and animal-based models in early toxicity and efficacy testing. Multi-organ designs that link several tissue types on one platform are beginning to move from academic proof-of-concept into contract-research service offerings.

What’s Fueling Growth in the Microfluidics Market

Point-of-Care and Decentralized Diagnostics: Demand is rising for platforms that shorten the path between sample collection and clinical decision-making.Precision Medicine Expansion: Personalized medicine increasingly relies on high-throughput, low-volume molecular profiling that microfluidic platforms support cost-effectively.Pharma and Biotech R&D Investment: Sustained spending on organ-on-a-chip and droplet-based single-cell systems is broadening use in early-stage drug discovery.AI-Integrated Lab-on-Chip Analytics: Multiplexed on-chip assays and automated interpretation are widening the range of clinical and research use cases.Infrastructure Build-Out in Developing Economies: Rapid growth in diagnostic and life-science research infrastructure is opening new demand.Manufacturing Partnerships: Supply agreements between chip makers and diagnostic companies are easing production bottlenecks and shortening time to market.

Challenges Facing the Microfluidics Market

Cost and validation remain the main brakes on adoption. Microfluidic instrumentation carries high initial costs compared with conventional laboratory equipment, and validating new platforms adds further expense, which is particularly difficult for smaller research laboratories and cost-conscious institutions to absorb. Established laboratory procedures also resist change, even where a new format offers clear speed or volume advantages.

Regulation is another source of uncertainty. Frameworks continue to lag technology, especially for organ-chip platforms and multiplex diagnostics, and the treatment of formats designed to complement or reduce reliance on certain animal-based studies is still evolving. That makes long-range product planning harder for manufacturers. Some applications also still require trained personnel, specialized readers, and quality control procedures before clinical deployment.

Recent Strategic Developments in the Microfluidics Market

In August 2026, HyperMelt, a U.S. diagnostics startup, was reported to be developing a microfluidics-based platform that combines sample digitization with thermal analysis to improve molecular characterization of cancer-related biomarkers, with potential applications in early cancer detection and liquid biopsy workflows.

In April 2025, CEA-Leti and Infiplast of France launched a dedicated microfluidics initiative to accelerate the industrialization and manufacturing of healthcare-oriented microfluidic devices, helping move laboratory-developed technologies into commercial products.

In November 2024, Parallel Fluidics secured USD 7 million in seed funding to accelerate its microfluidic manufacturing platform for life science applications including IVF, biotechnology research, and advanced laboratory workflows.

Taken together, these moves point to an industry focused on scaling manufacturing, moving lab-built devices to market, and extending microfluidics into oncology and reproductive health.
