Modernizing existing HVAC systems can help improve energy efficiency, reduce operating costs and support sustainability goals

News Summary

HVAC retrofitting can play an important role in improving energy efficiency across the GCC, where high cooling demand places significant pressure on buildings and their energy consumption.Upgrading aging or inefficient HVAC systems can help building owners and facility managers improve system performance, reliability and operational efficiency while extending equipment lifecycles.Smart controls, inverter technology and more efficient system management can help buildings better align cooling output with actual demand.LG’s MULTI V 5 VRF and Inverter Chillers offer solutions designed to support the modernization of commercial buildings with greater flexibility, optimized cooling performance and improved energy efficiency.

DUBAI, UAE, Sept. 28, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — As the GCC continues to focus on energy efficiency and sustainability, improving the performance of existing buildings is becoming an important consideration for building owners and facility managers. Retrofitting heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) systems can provide an opportunity to improve energy efficiency while supporting broader sustainability goals.

Retrofitting for greater efficiency and performance

HVAC systems play an important role in the operation of buildings across the GCC, where cooling demand is high. Over time, aging or inefficient systems can contribute to higher energy consumption and operating costs, making system upgrades an important consideration for businesses looking to improve building performance.

HVAC retrofitting can help address these challenges by improving system efficiency, performance and reliability, while also supporting the extension of equipment lifecycle. For building owners and facility managers, this makes retrofit an opportunity to improve existing infrastructure while addressing operational priorities.

Supporting more sustainable buildings

Improving the energy efficiency of existing buildings can also contribute to wider sustainability and decarbonization goals across the GCC. By reducing building energy consumption, HVAC upgrades can support efforts to improve the overall efficiency of commercial spaces.

Smart controls, inverter technology and more efficient system management can further support this transition by helping cooling systems operate in line with actual building requirements. This approach positions HVAC retrofitting not only as a sustainability initiative, but also as a practical business investment with the potential to support long-term operational savings.

“Our work across the region spans a diverse range of facilities, from educational institutions and labour accommodation to residential buildings and commercial properties, where aging air-conditioning systems can be upgraded with more energy-efficient technologies, including inverter-driven HVAC solutions and intelligent controls. By modernizing existing systems rather than relying solely on new construction, building owners and facility managers can reduce energy consumption, improve operational efficiency and create more comfortable indoor environments. This is where retrofitting can make a meaningful contribution to the GCC’s wider energy-efficiency and sustainability ambitions.” — Michael (Yong Joon) Park, VP ES Company MEA, LG Electronics.

LG solutions designed for HVAC modernization

LG offers HVAC solutions that can support building owners and facility managers looking to improve the efficiency and performance of existing commercial spaces. The LG MULTI V 5 VRF system is designed for commercial applications where flexibility and optimized cooling performance are important. Its energy-efficient operation and intelligent controls can support HVAC modernization while providing flexibility across different spaces and usage requirements.

For larger commercial applications, LG Inverter Chillers use inverter technology to optimize cooling output according to actual building demand. This can support more efficient system operation and help businesses manage energy use as part of their broader building efficiency goals.

As the GCC continues to advance its focus on energy-efficient buildings and sustainable urban development, HVAC retrofitting offers a practical pathway for improving existing building infrastructure. By upgrading inefficient systems and adopting more efficient technologies and management approaches, building owners and facility managers can support improved performance, operational efficiency and longer-term sustainability goals.

Teleste Brings Live OTT Streams to Broadcast TV with New Luminato 4X4 Receiver

Published

Operators can bring live OTT streams to sites that cannot use them directly-expanding service options for existing customers and opening new locations to TV delivery.

TURKU, Finland, Sept. 28, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — Teleste today announced a new receiver for Luminato 4X4 that enables operators to deliver over-the-top (OTT) television streams to sites using conventional cable or IPTV distribution. Available in Q4 2026, the receiver converts incoming OTT streams into the formats those local systems require. By adding the Luminato receiver, operators can extend their television offering without changing their delivery network or the site’s television distribution.

The new capability gives operators another way to use their OTT delivery infrastructure: the same live streams used to serve streaming customers can also supply a conventional television channel lineup at the destination. Delivery over broadband connections allows operators to serve locations beyond their own network. Hotels, hospitals, care facilities and multi-dwelling properties are natural applications, alongside other sites requiring local cable or IP television distribution.

“Moving the incoming television feed to streaming does not mean every screen has to become a streaming device,” said Julius Tikkanen, Vice President, Video Service Platforms at Teleste. “Luminato handles that transition at the receiving site. Operators can develop their delivery network while continuing to offer television in the format that works for each customer.”

Streaming reception with broadcast processing

The adaptive bitrate (ABR) receiver supports live MPEG-DASH streams and decryption of content protected by Widevine DRM. MPEG-DASH is a standard for delivering OTT television streams over broadband. The receiver converts these services into MPEG transport streams for local IP multicast or QAM distribution. IP and QAM outputs can operate simultaneously, allowing the same installation to serve different distribution requirements.

For cable distribution, the dense QAM module supports up to 32 QAM carriers per module, with support for DVB-C and ITU-T J.83 Annex B. Reception and output modules can be selected to match the installation’s requirements. The Luminato 4X4 chassis accommodates up to six hot-swappable modules and dual power supplies, providing capacity for expansion, modular servicing and power redundancy.

The receiver will be available for both new Luminato 4X4 systems and compatible existing installations. New deployments can be configured for ABR reception from the outset. Existing users can add the receiver while retaining applicable processing and output modules. Both approaches draw on the same modular broadcast platform and its established range of IP and RF delivery options.

Prediction markets have become a defining trend across financial platforms, drawing millions of participants to platforms built on real-money wagers. That model has also brought controversy and introduced a slew of risk factors for players. ByPick takes a different format: a points-based game in the Bybit app, where the outcome of a pick affects a user’s streak and leaderboard standing instead of a direct shift in a wallet balance.

Make Your Pick: Turning Opinions into Fun Gameplay and Rewards

To participate, eligible Bybit users may register for the event to receive 200 Campaign Points  as a one-time starter bonus, with no deposit or trading tasks required. From there, a Points Top-up Station keeps active users supplied: eligible users who complete a trade that day can refill their balance back up to a 200 cp floor once every 24 hours, with the offer resetting at 00:00 UTC.

Participants can also embark on their personal quest for additional points by completing tasks, including daily check-ins for consistency and receiving milestone bonuses for consecutive streaks. A variety of tasks are tailored to players of various styles:

Correct picks pay out Campaign Points proportionally based on the odds at the time of the prediction.Battle Pass milestones unlock further Campaign Points.Designated Trading Tasks offer a repeatable, uncapped way to earn Campaign Points through qualifying trades.Referrals yield Campaign Points for each friend who joins.New players who register partway through the season are automatically enrolled in a time-limited Sprint Task with enhanced Campaign Points rewards, giving later joiners a way to close the gap on the leaderboard.

All users are ranked on a single leaderboard based on total Campaign Points earned during the season, with two prize pools for user groups divided by a threshold of 10,000 USDT in cumulative trading volume, including the Standard Prize Pool and the Grand Prize Pool.

The community-first, experience-based new feature underscores Bybit’s commitment to serving its global user base and meeting every Bybit customer’s diverse needs, unlocking one financial freedom at a time.
