Smart Home Automation Expert Chad Carney Explains Smart Home Automation vs. Individual Smart Devices in HelloNation

The Article Explains How Centralized Controls, Compatibility, and Programmed Routines Distinguish an Integrated Home From a Collection of Smart Devices

TUCSON, Ariz., Sept. 28, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — What is the difference between smart home automation and individual smart devices? A HelloNation article provides the answer, drawing on insights from Chad Carney, a Smart Home Automation Expert at AV & Automation Specialists LLC, in Tucson, Arizona.

The article explains that owning several connected products does not automatically create an integrated smart home. Individual smart devices typically perform specific functions, such as controlling lighting, temperature, locks, cameras, speakers, shades, or appliances. Each product may provide useful features while still operating independently.

According to the article, homeowners can end up using separate apps for different devices. Lights may use one application, while a thermostat or security camera requires another. Although each product is considered smart, separate controls can make the overall home less coordinated.

The HelloNation article describes smart home automation as a more integrated approach. A home automation system can connect compatible devices through a central platform, allowing them to share controls, schedules, sensors, and programmed routines. This coordination can reduce the need to manage every device separately.

The article offers the example of a programmed scene that adjusts several systems at once. One command could lower motorized shades, change lighting, adjust the thermostat, and activate an audio system. Some routines can also occur automatically based on occupancy, temperature, schedules, or sensor information.

Compatibility remains an important consideration when creating an integrated smart home. The article notes that devices can rely on different communication standards, software platforms, and manufacturer ecosystems. Smart Home Automation Expert Chad Carney is featured as the source of insights explaining why a product that works independently may not provide the same functions within another platform.

The article also reviews technologies that can affect smart device compatibility. Matter is designed to improve compatibility across platforms, while devices may also use Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Thread, Zigbee, Z-Wave, or manufacturer-specific connections. Software support and available features can influence integration beyond the communication method itself.

Existing devices should therefore be evaluated before planning a home automation system, article explains. Some devices may connect directly, while others require a hub, bridge, or another integration method. Certain products may also provide limited functionality when
connected outside their original ecosystem.

The level of integration depends on a homeowner’s needs. Some systems may combine lighting, climate, and security through centralized control. More extensive systems can also coordinate audio, motorized shades, cameras, door locks, and other compatible
technologies.

The article emphasizes that automation involves more than connecting products to the internet. An integrated system allows devices to respond together through programmed routines, scenes, schedules, and sensor information. This distinction can help homeowners avoid adding unrelated products that create more apps instead of simplifying control.

As the article explains, effective smart home automation focuses on compatibility and coordination rather than simply increasing the number of connected devices. Planning around how technologies communicate and work together can help create a more organized system with fewer separate controls.

Annual industry event unveils voice AI, route and trailer orchestration, automated shop maintenance and agent-ready TMS platforms designed to put time back in the hands of fleets

SAN DIEGO, Sept. 28, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — Trimble kicked off its 2026 Trimble Insight Conference as CEO Rob Painter and Transportation & Logistics sector VP Michael Kornhauser presented a strategy to help fleets pair operational experience with AI execution to better adapt to market volatility and reclaim lost time.

“Navigating today’s volatile market requires clarity, resilience and the willingness to adapt,” said Painter. “Intelligent technology is only as powerful as the network supporting it, which is why we’re pairing autonomous AI with operational context so our customers have the tools to keep moving forward.”

“Our mission is to bring innovation directly into customer workflows without forcing disruptive platform overhauls,” said Kornhauser. “Whether modernizing core systems like Trimble® TruckMate® software or delivering route-planning autonomy with Appian, it comes down to a simple value equation — turning human context and AI into value for our customers.”

Highlighting the Trimble NEXT Showcase — a suite of nearly 20 new features and enhancements — Painter and Kornhauser unveiled key solutions including Trimble CoPilot® Driver Assistant, Route Orchestration for Trimble PC*Miler® routing software, Appian Fleet Assistant with autonomous planning, upgraded TMT AI Invoice Scanning, Trimble Dock & Yard Advanced Trailer Orchestration, agent-ready Carrier TMS modernizations and Trimble Arc Agent.

Mapping & Navigation Innovation
Trimble enhanced its mapping and navigation portfolio with next-generation automation and voice-activated AI. CoPilot Driver Assistant provides hands-free, natural-language in-cab navigation to locate fuel, parking and manage HOS limits. Trimble Route Orchestration for PC*Miler unifies planning, execution, visibility and settlement into a single workflow — balancing safety, tolls and delivery constraints — to optimize outcomes across the entire route lifecycle. For private fleets, Appian Fleet Assistant with autonomous planning acts as a virtual dispatcher, capturing operational rules to generate multi-stop route plans in seconds.

Fleet Maintenance AI Upgrades
Major upgrades to TMT Fleet Maintenance AI Invoice Scanning leverage advanced vision models to batch-process up to 100 vendor PDF invoices at once — saving more than 136,000 minutes across 19,500 invoices using AI as compared to manual data entry. By automating data entry and mapping repairs to VMRS codes, shop teams can eliminate repetitive paperwork, get trucks off shop bays and return assets to the road faster.

Trimble Dock & Yard: Advanced Trailer Orchestration
Trimble enhanced its Trimble Dock & Yard offering with Advanced Trailer Orchestration to eliminate “black box” blind spots between the road and the facility. The solution connects appointment planning, live arrival visibility and carrier collaboration into a single shared record for every trailer — from gate to dock. With features like Time Slot Management and a Carrier Yard Visit Portal, it automatically syncs shifting ETAs so teams can reduce detention costs and act before disruptions cause delay.

Carrier TMS Modernization
Trimble announced browser-based, AI agent-ready modernizations directly to its core Carrier TMS platforms — TMW.Suite, TruckMate, Innovative and Fuel Dispatch. Cloud-hosted architectures preserve decades of operational logic while providing cleaner, browser-accessible interfaces that enable seamless collaboration between people and AI agents. The keynote also highlighted Trimble TMS, its native cloud solution built specifically for growing North American full-truckload carriers and small and medium enterprises.

Trimble Arc Agent
First launched in August, Trimble Arc Agent is an AI digital colleague that automates repetitive, multi-step operational tasks through one conversational interface. Arc Agent automates core workflows — such as Order Entry, Contract Intake and the all-new Intelligent RFQ Builder skill — and offers custom skill-building to digitize complex processes like payroll reconciliation. Built for transportation and logistics, Arc executes repetitive administrative tasks while keeping fleet teams in full control with final approval.

State support, selection of Kiewit Nuclear Solutions Co. and continued partnership with Sargent & Lundy mark major steps toward development of first-of-its-kind U.S. medical isotope production facility

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M., Sept. 28, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — Eden Radioisotopes today announced significant progress toward development of its planned medical isotope production facility in Lea County, New Mexico, including support from the State of New Mexico and the selection of key partners to advance engineering, licensing and construction of the project.

Economic Development New Mexico announced that the state will support Eden’s planned investment of up to $1.4 billion through the Job Training Incentive Program, high-wage and rural job tax credits, and LEDA GRT Share. The project is expected to create 205 jobs statewide and generate more than $1.5 billion in economic impact over 10 years.

Eden has also selected Kiewit Nuclear Solutions Co. [Kiewit] as its nuclear engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) partner to support the project. Sargent & Lundy, which has worked with Eden throughout development of the facility, will continue supporting the project with architecture, engineering and regulatory services.

Together, these milestones represent another significant step toward construction of what is planned to be North America’s first purpose-built medical isotope production reactor and processing facility.

“This is about turning an ambitious idea into critical American infrastructure,” said Carrie Freeman, CEO of Eden Radioisotopes. “The State of New Mexico understands both the economic opportunity and the national importance of what we are building. And with Kiewit and Sargent & Lundy, we are assembling the experienced team needed to move this project from development through construction and into operation.”

More than 40,000 medical procedures performed every day in the United States rely on medical isotopes, yet the country remains dependent on aging reactors and overseas producers for much of its supply. Because many medical isotopes decay rapidly and cannot be stockpiled, interruptions in production or transportation can quickly affect hospitals, physicians and patients.

Eden is developing a domestic source of medical isotopes designed specifically to address that vulnerability. Its Lea County facility will produce isotopes used in diagnostic imaging and targeted cancer treatment, strengthening the reliability and resilience of the U.S. medical isotope supply chain.

The project also builds on New Mexico’s decades-long leadership in nuclear science and technology. Eden’s reactor technology is based on research developed at Sandia National Laboratories, while the state’s universities and technical workforce provide an important foundation for development of a new generation of nuclear professionals.

“New Mexico has the scientific heritage, workforce and nuclear expertise to help solve a problem that affects patients throughout the country,” Freeman said. “State support and the addition of Kiewit to a team that already includes Sargent & Lundy demonstrate that Eden is building the partnerships necessary to make domestic medical isotope production a reality.”

Eden filed its Construction Permit Application in May with the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission and anticipates a formal NRC decision in mid-2027. The company expects to be commercially operational in 2030.

New marketplace integration drops payment infrastructure directly into the Webflow canvas, ending external domain redirects, maximizing merchant conversions, and unlocking new possibilities for organizations leveraging Webflow.

TROY, Mich., Sept. 28, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — North, a U.S.-based leader in fintech and payment solutions processing over $100 billion in annual transaction volume, today announced a partnership with Webflow, the agentic web marketing platform trusted by companies like Dropbox, Orangetheory Fitness, and Docusign. The collaboration marks the official launch of Embedded Checkout by North, available immediately in the Webflow Marketplace. This breakthrough ecommerce engine embeds natively inside the visual design environment, dismantling legacy conversion bottlenecks by removing the requirement for off-site payment redirection.

As visual web design has grown to handle advanced business applications, web studios and developers building high-ticket service sites, custom client areas, or invoicing portals have faced a frustrating compromise. To handle the full customer journey, creators had to patch together an expensive, messy stack: web software for the frontend design, extra plugins for custom data logic, and external checkout links to handle the final payment loop.

“Enterprise web development demands absolute authority over the user journey, yet payment ecosystems have historically hijacked traffic right at the moment of conversion,” said Bryan Long, Senior Director of Product Management at North. “By formally partnering with Webflow, we are putting payment processing infrastructure directly into the designer’s canvas. This native integration ensures that advanced web stacks work cleanly together without structural compromises, allowing businesses to maximize their checkout completion velocity while keeping their digital experiences completely unfragmented.”

Streamlined Boarding and Bank-Grade Security

Bypassing the sudden funding holds and compliance vulnerabilities common among aggregate payment facilitators, North brings direct, domestic processing stability to the ecosystem via its owned payment processor, Electronic Payment Exchange (EPX). This gives high-ticket professional services and enterprise B2B merchants charging premium fees the ability to secure comprehensive underwriting clearing upfront before executing their first live launch.

The Webflow Marketplace integration features:

One-Click Mobile Wallets: Native, borderless rendering of digital payment containers—including Apple Pay® and Google Pay™—optimized directly for mobile viewport layouts.Reduction in PCI Burden: By leveraging North’s secure, single-token architecture, sensitive credit card numbers and data never touch or pass through the merchant’s or Webflow’s internal servers, keeping technical infrastructure out of scope for complex PCI compliance audits.Programmatic Webhook Status: Agencies gain real-time, transparent insight into the entire merchant boarding.

Monetizing the Webflow Creative Ecosystem

In addition to technical alignment, the partnership establishes an entirely new commercial reward structure for digital builders. By standardizing their custom application blueprints on the North Embedded Checkout engine, web development agencies—known as Webflow Partners in the Webflow ecosystem—can eliminate the ongoing technical overhead of maintaining disjointed payment scripts. More importantly, it creates a new revenue stream for agencies. These agencies register as official sales partners under North’s global ecosystem umbrella, instantly activating an aggressive, recurring revenue stream from every processed transaction engine they deploy.

“We are thrilled to welcome North Payments to the Webflow App Marketplace,” said Greg Kelly, Director, Technology Partnerships. “Partnering with North lets our customers easily access enterprise grade payment infrastructure without fragmenting the web experiences they’re building in Webflow. Excited to see what our joint customers build with this new integration!”
