Tenuta Luce Concludes the 2026 Harvest in Montalcino

Tenuta Luce reflects on the growing season in Montalcino and shares its first impressions of the wines

MONTALCINO, Italy, Oct. 9, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — The 2026 harvest has come to a close at Tenuta Luce. The growing season was characterized by a warm and dry climate, supported by the good water reserves accumulated in the soils during a cool and rainy winter and spring. The final stage of the season then provided favorable conditions allowing the grapes to progress steadily towards full ripeness.

“The season in Montalcino began with a mild and rainy winter, which ensured good water availability in the soil and encouraged an early start to the growing cycle. Spring conditions maintained that momentum, putting us on course for an earlier-than-average harvest. From there, we monitored the vines closely, following the different ripening patterns of each variety so that we could pick at exactly the right time,” explains Alessandro Marini, Technical Director of Tenuta Luce.

Summer brought high temperatures and dry conditions as ripening progressed. “Our work has been about adapting our decisions to the evolution of the vineyards, intervening according to the condition of the grapes and the balance reached at each stage,” states Marini.

Harvest at Tenuta Luce began on August 26th for Luce, followed through September by the harvesting of Sangiovese from the Madonnino vineyard, destined for Luce Brunello, and Sangiovese from the Caselli vineyard, which is the foundation of Luce. Each plot was harvested according to its individual ripening pattern, allowing for optimal maturity. The harvest concluded on October 5th with Cabernet Sauvignon from the Campolungo vineyard, which gives rise to Lux Vitis.

“The rainfall and drop in temperatures in mid-September brought greater water availability and cooler conditions at a particularly important moment for the ripening of Sangiovese, allowing the grapes to reach an excellent balance,” Marini concludes. The first tastings in the cellar confirm these early impressions, revealing wines of finesse and balance: the result of a season that combined steady water availability during the first part of the year, a summer favorable conditions to ripening, and careful attention to the timing of the harvest for each variety.

TENUTA LUCE

Tenuta Luce lies southwest of the town of Montalcino, in the heart of the Val d’Orcia Natural Park, a rural landscape sensitively re-designed by man in the pre-Renaissance era and declared by UNESCO in 2004 a World Heritage Site. This extraordinary corner of earth, historically renowned for its world-class wines, hosts the Luce wine estate, set among woods and olive groves: a lightly inhabited, near-pristine ambiance rich in biodiversity. Its brilliant sunlight, crisp air and well-ventilated conditions, gift of its unique exposure; and its diversity of soils and elevations all combine to make Tenuta Luce a truly privileged place, where the equilibrium of all these components is jealously respected and protected. That respect is reflected in the winemaking as well, where every step in the process is performed with meticulous care, in order to preserve the nonpareil harmony achieved in the vineyard. The fruits of this enlightened philosophy and unmatchable terroir are the Tenuta Luce wines: Luce, Lucente, Luce Brunello, and Lux Vitis, born from a vision that took shape in the early 1990s with the aim of expressing the essence of Montalcino through a distinctive perspective.
