Morgantown HVAC System Performance Explained In HelloNation Article Featuring HVAC Expert Greg Barker

Published

on

The article outlines warning signs that an air conditioner is struggling during summer heat and how to address them early.

MORGANTOWN, W.Va., Oct. 12, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — Why does an air conditioner sometimes run constantly but still fail to keep a home cool during peak summer heat? HelloNation has published a HelloNation article that provides the answer, explaining how to identify when an HVAC system is under stress in North Central West Virginia.

The HelloNation article explains that a properly functioning HVAC system should maintain steady cooling without excessive effort. When an air conditioner runs continuously without reaching the desired temperature, it may be struggling to keep up with demand. The article notes that this issue is often accompanied by uneven cooling between rooms or persistent indoor humidity, both of which indicate reduced system performance.

Restricted airflow is identified as one of the most common causes of poor cooling performance. The article describes how dirty filters, blocked vents, or clogged ducts can prevent cool air from circulating effectively. These issues force the system to work harder, increasing energy use while reducing comfort. Regular filter replacement and keeping vents and outdoor units clear are presented as essential steps for maintaining airflow.

HVAC Expert Greg Barker is featured in the article as a source of insight into diagnosing system performance issues. The article explains that refrigerant problems can also contribute to an air conditioner struggling during Morgantown summer heat. Low refrigerant levels or leaks reduce the system’s ability to remove heat, causing it to run continuously without achieving proper cooling. A professional inspection can identify these issues and restore system efficiency.

Uneven cooling throughout the home is another warning sign discussed in the article. When certain rooms remain warmer than others, it may point to ductwork leaks, insulation issues, or imbalanced airflow. Addressing these problems helps ensure consistent temperatures and improves overall comfort. The article emphasizes that these imbalances should not be ignored, as they often signal underlying system inefficiencies.

Humidity control is closely tied to HVAC performance. The article notes that if indoor air remains humid despite constant operation, the system may not be functioning correctly. Excess humidity can lead to discomfort, as well as issues such as mold growth or musty odors. Ensuring proper system maintenance helps regulate moisture levels and maintain a healthier indoor environment.

Mechanical and electrical warning signs are also highlighted. Frequent cycling, unusual noises, or sudden shutdowns may indicate components under strain. The compressor, fan motor, and capacitors are particularly vulnerable during extended periods of high demand. Early attention to these symptoms can prevent more serious failures and costly emergency repairs.

The article also addresses the impact on energy efficiency. When an HVAC system is struggling, it often consumes more electricity while delivering less effective cooling. Homeowners may notice rising utility bills as the system works harder to maintain indoor temperatures. Resolving underlying issues can restore efficiency and reduce operating costs.

Preventive maintenance is presented as the most effective way to avoid these problems. The HelloNation article explains that seasonal tune-ups help ensure proper refrigerant levels, clean components, and optimized airflow. Scheduling maintenance before peak summer demand allows technicians to address minor concerns before they escalate.

Overall, the article encourages Morgantown homeowners to recognize early warning signs and take action promptly. By addressing airflow issues, refrigerant levels, and system performance concerns, homeowners can maintain consistent cooling, control indoor humidity, and ensure their HVAC system operates reliably throughout the summer.

As a member of the Coalition of Disaster Responders, Renaissance Restoration has sent IICRC-certified crews and drying equipment to Pensacola, Destin and Panama City Beach to help homeowners and businesses recover from water, storm and mold damage.

PENSACOLA, Fla., Oct. 12, 2026 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ — Renaissance Restoration, an IICRC-certified water damage and restoration company and member of the Coalition of Disaster Responders (CDR), has deployed crews and equipment to the Florida Panhandle to help residents recover from Hurricane Isaias.

When a storm like Isaias hits, every hour matters. Getting water out quickly is how you prevent further damage.

Hurricane Isaias made landfall near Destin around 8:30 p.m. CDT on Oct. 9, with maximum sustained winds of 105 mph, according to the National Hurricane Center. The storm brought a 102 mph wind gust at Pensacola City Hall, a 116 mph gust near Santa Rosa Sound, and storm surge measured at 5.6 feet above normal high tide in Panama City Beach. Flash flooding spread inland overnight.

“When a storm like Isaias hits, every hour matters,” said Brandon Smith, co-owner of Renaissance Restoration. “Getting water out quickly is how you prevent further damage. Our crews are here to get homes and businesses dried out fast and to help families through the insurance process.”

Renaissance Restoration crews are serving Pensacola, Gulf Breeze, Navarre, Milton, Destin, Fort Walton Beach, Santa Rosa Beach, Panama City and Panama City Beach. Services include emergency water extraction and structural drying, storm and flood damage cleanup, mold inspection and remediation, sewage cleanup, and documentation support for insurance claims.

As a CDR member, Renaissance Restoration works within a nationwide network of restoration contractors, first responders, suppliers and equipment owners organized for large-scale recovery. Members follow shared standards for operations, logistics and communication, so crews from multiple companies can respond across many sites at once.

“Being part of the Coalition means we can bring more people and equipment to the Panhandle, and hold ourselves to a shared standard while we do it,” said Smith.

Renaissance Restoration recommends these steps for Panhandle property owners with storm damage: stay safe by avoiding floodwater, downed power lines and structurally unsafe buildings; photograph and video all damage before moving or discarding anything; contact your insurance company to start a claim as soon as possible; prevent further damage where it is safe, such as covering openings; and start water removal and drying quickly to limit damage and mold growth.

Property owners in Pensacola, Destin, Panama City Beach and surrounding areas can reach Renaissance Restoration 24/7 at (850) 809-3620 or learn more at https://renaissancerestorationservices.com/hurricane-damage-restoration-pensacola-hurricane-isaias/

California Turns More Green Waste into Compost with Expanded Republic Services Organics Facility

Keeping organic material out of landfills benefits communities, environment

PHOENIX, Oct. 12, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — Republic Services opened its newly expanded compost facility at Forward Landfill in San Joaquin County, Calif., turning more organic material into compost used throughout California’s agricultural heartland. With additional processing space and upgraded infrastructure, the facility provides increased capacity to recycle food scraps and yard waste from homes and businesses. The project is part of Republic Services’ growing network of organics facilities in California, helping support the state’s robust climate goals.

“Each truckload of food and yard waste that arrives at Forward Landfill is transformed into nutrient-rich compost that supports local farmers, landscapers and even community projects,” said Chris Seney, director of Sustainability Innovation in Organics at Republic Services. “This facility represents composting on a whole different scale, with the technology and capacity to process thousands of tons of material per year.”

For nearly eight decades, Forward Landfill has served communities in California’s Central Valley with reliable and responsible environmental services. The site continues to evolve, with a renewable energy plant, a renewable natural gas facility under development and a compost site that has served customers for years. Today, the compost facility:

Serves thousands of homes and businesses across Northern California.Recycles up to 147,000 tons of material annually.Utilizes the latest technology to speed up the composting process and keep up with greater customer demand.Supports a local circular economy by recycling yard and food waste into compost that’s returned to farmers and residents.

Keeping organic waste out of landfills

Today, 48% of what people dispose of in California landfills is organic waste. That includes 2.5 billion meals worth of unspoiled food a year. When organic materials break down in landfills, the process creates methane emissions that can contribute to climate change.

To help protect air quality and communities, Republic Services is building an innovative portfolio of organics facilities throughout California. This includes:

17 organics facilities, including green waste processing facilities, compost sites and commercial food waste operations. In 2025, 884,000 tons of food and yard waste was processed.

Later this year, Republic Services will open the San Bernadino Sustainability Park, one of the nation’s largest organics facilities, in San Bernardino County, Calif. The facility will have enough capacity to recycle 300,000 tons of food and green waste per year at the start, with room to double.

Cultivating a sustainable future together

Republic Services began planning Forward Landfill’s compost site expansion in 2019. In 2023, Republic Services received $5.1 million through CalRecycle’s Organics Grant Program, which helped support construction, equipment and administrative costs. The grant program is part of CalRecycle’s effort to promote industry investments in clean technologies and reduce greenhouse gas emissions in the state.

“The composting facility upgrade at Republic Services’ Forward Landfill is a powerful example of how local partnerships help California cut pollution, expand organics recycling infrastructure and support a climate-safe future with technology that puts communities first,” CalRecycle Director Zoe Heller said. “A local circular economy in action, this site takes in food and green waste from homes and businesses and returns finished compost back to the community to support soil health, drought resilience and local food production.”

“This $5 million investment is an important step forward for San Joaquin County. By expanding our composting capacity, we’re strengthening essential services, supporting local businesses, and investing in a cleaner, more sustainable future for the communities we serve,” said San Joaquin County Supervisor Mario Gardea.
