Small-Ticket Equipment Finance Per-Transaction Processing Cost Climbs to $2,729 per Lease or Loan

Published

on

ELFA’s 2026 Survey of Equipment Finance Activity shows that lender processing costs per booked small-ticket lease or loan rose more than $300 per contract in 2025, while volumes fell.

FAIRPORT, N.Y., Oct. 12, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — Total processing and overhead cost per booked small-ticket equipment finance transaction rose to $2,729 in 2025, up $322 from $2,407 a year earlier, according to a QuickFi® analysis of data compiled and recently released by the Equipment Leasing and Finance Association (ELFA) in its 2026 Survey of Equipment Finance Activity.

Among lenders in this year’s ELFA annual benchmarking survey, small-ticket sales, general and administrative expenses rose about 7%. The number of small-ticket transactions booked fell about 7%. On that like-for-like basis, total processing cost per booked transaction in 2025 rose about 14%.

The ELFA figures include total lender processing and overhead costs and exclude credit losses. The $2,729-per-transaction cost metric measures operating overhead — sales, staff, technology, and general administration — divided by the number of transactions lenders booked, so the cost of applications that never close is carried by the deals that do.

“The industry isn’t experiencing a staffing problem or a technology-budget problem,” said Bill Verhelle, CEO of QuickFi. “It’s an operating model problem. When employees must touch every application, significant cost reduction isn’t possible.” Embedded lending technology costs a fraction of the expense required to operate the traditional business model.

Methodology — The per-transaction figures are QuickFi’s calculations from recently published ELFA annual survey data, not figures reported directly by ELFA: 2025 small-ticket segment sales, general and administrative expense of $1.796 billion (2026 Survey of Equipment Finance Activity, Figure 17f) divided by 658,070 small-ticket applications booked and funded or sold (2026 Small-Ticket Survey of Equipment Finance Activity, Figure 13a) equals $2,729. The 2024 figure of $2,407 applies the same calculation to the 2025 editions; the 2026 edition restates 2024 for its respondent group at $2,387. ELFA defines small-ticket transactions to include leases and loans with an equipment cost between $25,000 and $250,000 each. Provision for credit losses is excluded. ELFA data is used for industry benchmarking only; ELFA has not reviewed or endorsed this analysis or QuickFi.

The first-of-its-kind documentary on cyberwar debuted at Black Hat USA 2026 before an audience of CISOs, national security leaders and defenders—the same community whose stories it tells.

HOBOKEN, N.J., Oct. 13, 2026/PRNewswire/ — Semperis, the identity-driven cyber resilience and crisis response company, today announced that it has added new cities to the world screening tour of Midnight in the War Room. The first feature-length documentary on cyber war, which includes voices from inside the cybersecurity community, debuted August 5 at Black Hat, the cybersecurity industry’s most established and in-depth security event series.

The global screening roadshow of Midnight in the War Room is sponsored by Cohesity, the leader in AI-powered data security, which is helping to bring the film and its message about cyber resilience to defenders and cybersecurity professionals worldwide.

New stops in Melbourne, Australia and Austin, Texas bring the film to audiences at two major industry gatherings. The Melbourne screening will be held during CyberCon, Australia’s largest cybersecurity conference, where former CISA Director Jen Easterly will deliver a keynote. Easterly, who is featured in the film, will also deliver opening remarks to film attendees. The screening is open to all conference attendees and takes place Wednesday, October 14, 6:45 pm in the Plenary Theater, Melbourne Convention & Exhibition Centre.

The Austin screening will take place during CyberMarketingCon, the leading conference for cybersecurity industry go-to-market leaders, on Tuesday, November 17, 7:00 pm, at the Marriott Downtown in Austin. To request a seat, visit Midnight in the War Room | Austin.

“Defeating the malicious cyberattacks that threaten our way of life will take more than technology. It will take the creativity and curiosity of the human mind,” says Easterly. “Those qualities empower defenders to outthink and outmaneuver adversaries, and it’s an honor to be part of Midnight in the War Room to advance that mission.”

Upcoming screenings will take place in the following cities:

Melbourne, Australia – October 14
Singapore – October 14
New York City – October 15
Nashville, TN – October 15
Toronto – October 20
Paris – October 20
Detroit – October 21
Mexico City – October 22
Philadelphia – October 27
Mumbai, India – October 29
Vancouver, BC – October 28

Austin, TX – November 17

Screenings have already taken place in: Atlanta, Boston, Chicago, Dallas, Frankfurt, Hamburg, London, Miami, Minneapolis, Mountain View, Munich, Scottsdale, St. Louis, Sydney, Washington and Zurich.

“After watching the Midnight in the War Room premiere at Black Hat this year, I knew we had to bring this film to CyberMarketingCon. It’s marketing at its most magnetic: a gripping story, beautifully told, with the production quality to match,” said Gianna Whitver, CEO and Co-Founder, Cybersecurity Marketing Society. “It’s one of the first cybersecurity productions I’ve seen that feels right at home on Netflix, Hulu, or the big screen at AMC. We can’t wait to bring the film’s energy to CyberMarketingCon attendees and the Austin cybersecurity community.”

Preregistration is required to attend screenings. To attend a screening, visit: Midnight in the War Room Events.

Produced by Semperis Studios and filmed across North America and Europe, the documentary draws on more than 50 interviews and over 100 hours of conversations with CISOs, former hackers, journalists, and national security leaders. Featured contributors include Chris Inglis, the first U.S. National Cyber Director; General (Ret.) David Petraeus, former CIA Director; Jen Easterly, former Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) Director; Marcus Hutchins, the WannaCry hero; and Tim Brown, former CISO of SolarWinds.

“We made this film because the people who defend the world’s critical systems have never had their story told on their own terms,” said Bill Keeler, Co-Director of the film. “Watching it land with a room full of defenders was the whole point. What we heard at the world premiere tells us this conversation is only beginning.”

Semperis is the first cybersecurity company to produce a full-length feature film on cyber war, spotlighting the defenders who safeguard the infrastructure society depends on: water and power systems, food supply chains, healthcare networks, and financial institutions targeted by nation states and ransomware gangs.

The Midnight in the War Room world screening roadshow wouldn’t be possible without the film’s many Action Partners such as Black Hat, Women in CyberSecurity (WiCyS), Cyber Future Foundation and Hack The Box. Other Action Partners include:

SUBSCRIBE Launches 1031 DST Exchange Transaction Platform

The technology solution combines digital workflows and critical property data to support financial advisors engaged in 1031 DST exchange transactions from start to finish. The platform also centralizes over 40 DST offerings from leading alternative asset managers and embeds qualified intermediary services from national 1031 exchange firms.

NEW YORK, Oct. 13, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — SUBSCRIBE, a global fintech company providing the leading enterprise operating system for alternative investments, today announced the launch of their 1031 DST Transaction Platform. The digital solution provides over 1200 wealth management firms and their 55,000 financial advisors access to more than 40 DST offerings from leading alternative asset managers including Blackstone, Bluerock, Cantor Fitzgerald Asset Management, Capital Square, Cottonwood, ExchangeRight, Hines, Inland, Invesco, Nuveen, Palladius, Passco, Starwood, and many others. As part of the initiative, the company has also formed strategic relationships with national 1031 exchange firms, such as Accruit, digitally embedding qualified intermediary (QI) services as part of the workflow within SUBSCRIBE.

The technology-enabled 1031 exchange workflow and property data solution is designed to allow financial advisors and their clients to initiate, manage, and track an exchange transaction from start to finish. The solution seeks to close the information gap that often exists between financial advisors and their clients by capturing exchanger, relinquished property, and other critical information to help automate the multistage, paperwork-heavy process on a single platform and do so transparently for all stakeholders. The embedded QIs will provide financial advisors with educational resources and access to experienced exchange professionals, while the broad menu of DSTs centralizes access to high-quality investment options.

“SUBSCRIBE successfully innovated onboarding for private market funds in a way that allowed all the stakeholders involved in a fund transaction to benefit and efficiently scale,” said Rafay Farooqui, Founder & CEO at SUBSCIRBE. “With the launch of our 1031 Exchange Transaction Platform, we seek to replicate that success for DST transactions and bring them online from their current state of messy email threads, paper forms, and fragmented workflows.”

Simplified Workflows for DST Sponsors
SUBSCRIBE’s 1031 DST Transaction Platform is also positioned to make offerings easily accessible, and transaction tracking simpler for alternative asset managers that have designed DST offerings to provide financial advisors and their clients with access to institutional‑quality real estate across senior housing, student housing, multifamily, and industrial property. Bringing sponsors, QIs, and financial advisors together on a single platform to consolidate and simplify the process helps clients preserve capital, defer taxes, and execute reinvestment strategies more efficiently. This creates greater confidence in DSTs as tax-deferral strategies, strengthens long-term client relationships, and delivers a more seamless experience for all stakeholders.

“For clients of wealth managers seeking to preserve equity and reposition capital, 1031 DSTs offer an effective tool,” said Steve Holtkamp, President at Accruit. “SUBSCRIBE brings the QI directly into the platform, providing a modern and intuitive experience that guides financial advisors and their clients through the exchange process while creating a more seamless, connected experience from start to finish.”

Powerful Tax Management Solution
The Baby Boomer generation has approximately $90 trillion in net worth, with an estimated $4 trillion concentrated in investment properties and second homes. DSTs are increasingly being used by financial advisors as a starting point to form a long-term wealth strategy, but they also act as mechanisms for execution certainty as exchangers face stringent 45-day and 180-day deadlines to complete transactions. A DST can serve as a safety net, providing the certainty of a fully structured, professionally managed property over the uncertainty of chasing a direct deal in that same time-period. DSTs can also address key investment planning objectives, deferral of capital gains taxes, risk management, asset diversification, and strategic portfolio repositioning by helping real estate investors transition away from the challenges of active real property management. Thus, many leading alternative asset managers have launched 1031 tax-advantaged wealth platforms, and some offer a potential future exit through a Section 721 UPREIT transaction, in which DST holders can contribute their interests, tax deferred, into a REIT in exchange for partnership units.

“Our Exchange platform was designed around the needs of wealth managers who require flexibility, choice, and efficiency when evaluating 1031 DST opportunities on behalf of their clients,” said Nitin Chexal, CEO of Palladius Capital Management. “Our longstanding relationship with SUBSCRIBE made this a natural extension of our partnership. Its new 1031 DST Transaction Platform helps modernize and streamline the subscription process, making it easier for advisors and their clients to access Exchange offerings.”

Through 2Q 2026, DST sponsors had already raised $3.75 billion, up nearly 24% from the same period in 2025, with $3.9 billion in available open inventory across 100 DST offerings. Mountain Dell, a consulting and research firm, projects $10 billion in total DST sales by year-end, up nearly 55% from 2025.
