TrackVia Research Reveals 7 Ways Field Teams Are Using Automation and Mobile Tools to Cut Friction

Published

on

Analysis of 250+ TrackVia customers shows where field teams automate first and how they expand from inspections and work orders into inventory, safety, and other mission critical operations.

DENVER, Oct. 21, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — TrackVia, the Field Operations Intelligence Platform, today released 7 Ways to Cut Friction in Field Operations, a new report based on proprietary analysis of more than 250 TrackVia customers. The research identifies the operational processes field intensive organizations automate first, how those processes expand over time, and where companies are seeing measurable improvements in speed, visibility and productivity. Across construction, manufacturing, healthcare and other industries, the report highlights seven common best practices, from field inspections and work orders to inventory, safety and preventive maintenance.

TrackVia analysis of 250+ companies shows where field operations teams automate and mobile-enable in 2026.

Field operations leaders are being asked to do more with less. Open roles are harder to fill, material and fuel costs remain under pressure, and customers expect faster service and greater visibility into the work being done. In this environment, organizations are increasingly turning to automation and mobile tools to reduce manual work, improve execution and make better operational decisions.

“What stood out in the data is that companies rarely start by trying to transform everything at once,” Said Aylin Basom, CEO of TrackVia. “Leaders start with one operational problem that matters: an inspection process, a work order, inventory in the field. They prove the value, and then expand from there. With labor tight and costs rising, field teams can’t afford to spend time entering the same information twice, chasing missing forms or waiting on reports that are already out of date. The companies making the most progress are building operational intelligence one workflow at a time.”

Key findings from TrackVia Field Operations Research include:

Field/Quality inspections are the most common entry point for automation. 60% of customers have automated and mobile enabled field inspections, making it the most common process in the research. The share is 75% in construction, 57% in manufacturing, and 35% in healthcare. Crew and subcontractor management (31%), work orders and field operations (31%), parts and materials inventory (23%), asset tracking (20%), and safety and compliance (16%) follow.

Most teams connect more than one process. 46% of customers have automated three or more processes. The median is two, and construction customers in the research run a median of five.

Manual work remains the most common starting problem. 70% of the customers who described their situation before TrackVia said manual, paper, spreadsheet, or email processes were slowing their operations. More than half had no central, real-time view of the work.

Customers report measurable results. The gains show up in cycle time, productivity and consistency. A utility contractor that moved a paper form to mobile capture cut invoicing from about six days to a few hours. A training and compliance team reports up to 80% time savings on data collection and reporting. A hospital system now runs one inspection standard across three hospitals and eight outpatient centers.

Cascade Stucco, a TrackVia customer, saw the same pattern as it grew.

“When we went from a few jobs a month to a few every week, about half of my time went to handing out paperwork,” said Jared Reeves, Director of Technology at Cascade Stucco. “Now our jobs, crews, and materials are in one system. I can see where each job stands and what it earns without chasing anyone for paper.”

The report is designed to give operations leaders a practical path forward. Each of the seven best practices examines a common operational challenge, its business impact, how other organizations are addressing it, and a practical place to start. TrackVia recommends beginning with one site, one team and one process, measuring the impact over 30 days, and expanding from there.

Private investment comes as Arcanus builds out Canadian manufacturing capacity for autonomous aerial systems

DUBAI, UAE, Oct. 23, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — Yazan Al Homsi, a UAE-based investor and managing partner of Catalyst Communications DMCC, has invested US$500,000 in Arcanus Aerial Systems Inc., a Toronto-headquartered developer and manufacturer of unmanned aerial systems for defence, public safety and critical infrastructure customers. Al Homsi is an investor only and holds no operational, advisory or board role with the company. Other terms were not disclosed.

Arcanus is a Canadian-controlled company. It currently lists more than 15 platforms across heavy-lift, intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (ISR), cargo, strike and counter-drone missions. According to the company, its published line-up includes:

AB 516e: a long-endurance vertical take-off fixed-wing aircraft rated for three hours of flight.AE 401: a counter-drone interceptor with a top speed of 300 km/h.AC 5250: a cargo platform with a 250 kg payload and a range of more than 2,300 km.

Alongside defence, Arcanus markets its systems for wildfire detection, search and rescue, Arctic sovereignty, border and maritime patrol, and pipeline and power line monitoring.

The company has spent 2026 assembling its domestic production base. In April, Arcanus signed a binding term sheet with Portugal-based Beyond Vision, granting it rights to manufacture, commercialize and support Beyond Vision’s unmanned aerial systems in Canada.

In June, Arcanus announced a five-year agreement appointing FeralX Systems Inc. as a non-exclusive Canadian contract manufacturer for several of its platforms.

“Canada has the engineering talent to build these systems at home, and recent years have shown how much depends on having that capacity domestically,” said Yazan Al Homsi. “What stood out to me about Arcanus was the manufacturing groundwork already in place: licensing, a production partner, and a range of aircraft that serves wildfire crews and search-and-rescue teams alongside defence customers.”
