SAINT PAUL, Minn., Oct. 22, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — American Public Media‘s Marketplace has been awarded a grant from the Nasdaq Foundation’s Economic Opportunity Grant Program to expand financial literacy programming. Marketplace is the most widely consumed business and economic news program in the country across radio and television, commercial or public broadcasting.

The grant will support financial literacy programs across Marketplace, contributing to its mission to raise economic intelligence. The Economic Opportunity Grant will be used to help package some of Marketplace’s strongest reporting and learning content into an accessible digital hub. This project will help lower barriers to financial literacy tools by expanding classroom-ready resources through education partners and engaging audiences within their communities and online, especially on social media.

The initiative is anchored by four of Marketplace’s established financial literacy podcasts: Million Bazillion, Financially Inclined, This Is Uncomfortable and Must Be the Money. Together, these shows help listeners at every stage of life understand how finance, business and the economy work — knowledge that can serve them for a lifetime.

“Financial literacy is at the core of our mission to raise the economic intelligence of the nation,” said Neal Scarbrough, Vice President and General Manager of Marketplace. “With support from the Nasdaq Foundation, Marketplace can accelerate its efforts to expand the depth, discoverability and reach of this content, empowering Americans at every stage of life with the tools to build stronger financial futures.”

“Financial literacy is the foundation of economic opportunity. Through our Economic Opportunity Grant Program, the Nasdaq Foundation is committed to democratizing financial knowledge and equipping under-resourced communities with the tools to share in the wealth that markets create. Marketplace’s mission to raise the economic intelligence of the country aligns powerfully with that goal, and we’re proud to support their work in making trusted, accessible financial education available to more Americans,” said Jailan Griffiths, President of the Nasdaq Foundation and Head of Purpose at Nasdaq.
