Kosli Joins FINOS to Drive Innovation in DevOps Controls and Change Management for Financial Services

Published

on

OSLO, Norway, Feb. 6, 2025 /PRNewswire/ — Kosli, a leading provider of automated governance solutions for software delivery, is proud to announce that it has joined the Fintech Open Source Foundation (FINOS), the financial services umbrella of the Linux Foundation dedicated to fostering the adoption of open source software, standards, and collaborative development practices in financial services.

This partnership underscores Kosli’s commitment to advancing industry-wide standards in banking and finance for DevOps controls and change management.

Driving Standardization in Financial Services DevOps

The financial services industry faces unique challenges when it comes to balancing rapid innovation with strict regulatory requirements and security mandates. This has a particular impact on software delivery teams who must ensure the compliance and security of increasingly large numbers of changes deployed to production environments every year.

While some organizations have developed internal solutions to automate these governance controls, the lack of standardization creates inconsistency and uncertainty across the sector.

By joining FINOS, Kosli aims to collaborate with industry leaders to establish common best practices for software delivery lifecycle (SDLC) controls, ensuring that compliance and governance requirements do not become bottlenecks to innovation.

Addressing Industry Challenges in SDLC Controls

Financial institutions are currently grappling with fundamental questions around SDLC controls. Legacy change management approaches built around tickets, forms, and manual approvals are no longer compatible with today’s highly automated software delivery practices.

Kosli believes the solution to this problem lies in open, vendor-agnostic solutions that foster transparency, efficiency, and continuous compliance.

Kosli’s collaboration with FINOS will focus on:

Contributing to industry-wide discussions on standardizing DevOps controls and change management.Helping to develop open source frameworks for automated compliance that benefit all financial institutions.Establishing best practices for implementing automated controls in modern software delivery pipelines.Defining standardized approaches for audit trails and regulatory compliance documentation.

Building the Future: Common SDLC Design Patterns

Kosli sees a future where financial institutions can leverage community-driven standards and tools to implement robust DevOps controls without sacrificing speed or agility. Key focus areas for collaboration include:

Creating standardized “design patterns” for automated controls.Defining best practices for change management automation.Developing shared specifications for audit trails and compliance documentation.Delivering reference implementations that demonstrate best practices in action.

Mike Long, CEO of Kosli, highlighted the strategic alignment with FINOS “Financial services organizations operate under some of the world’s strictest compliance requirements. We believe that delivering software should be as transparent as deploying infrastructure—with automated tracking and verifiable proof of every change.

“Our approach to Controls Engineering makes this possible by integrating compliance directly into development workflows. Joining FINOS is a natural fit, as we share a vision for fostering open collaboration that makes compliance simpler and more efficient for the industry.”

Gabriele Columbro, Executive Director of FINOS, also expressed enthusiasm for the partnership: “We are thrilled to welcome Kosli into the FINOS community. The financial services industry has recognized the need for standardized, open, and machine-readable approaches to security, like our Common Cloud Controls project. Kosli’s expertise in this space aligns perfectly with our mission to drive collaboration and innovation in financial services technology so we look forward to their impact in our Community.”

Join the Conversation

Kosli recognizes that these discussions are already happening within FINOS, and the company is eager to contribute its expertise and insights. We would like to encourage other financial services organizations facing challenges with DevOps controls, compliance automation, or change management, to join the conversation.

Market Segmentation

The segmentation below follows the current report taxonomy and separates products, applications and buyers to avoid overlapping revenue definitions.

By technology: Alkaline water electrolysis; Proton exchange membrane electrolysis; Solid oxide electrolysis.By application: Fertilizers; Industrial and chemical feedstock; Power generation; Marine fuel; Other uses including hydrogen carriers and refrigeration.

Market Drivers

Fertilizer producers can reduce reliance on fossil-based hydrogen by purchasing certified renewable ammonia or replacing a portion of their own feedstock. Long-term supply contracts can make the economics more predictable for producers and buyers.

Large renewable energy resources and improving electrolyzer supply support new plants in China, India and prospective export hubs. Project economics still depend heavily on utilization and electricity costs.

Cross-border contracts create a clearer financing route than nonbinding project announcements. Importers that require renewable fuel certification can anchor investments in production and shipping logistics.

Regional Analysis

The following regional shares represent Credence Research estimates of 2025 market value. They are not independently audited supplier sales totals.

Asia Pacific | 60.2% share in 2025

Operating Chinese plants and Indian fertilizer procurement programs underpin the largest base. Japan and South Korea are potential import markets for certified supply.

Europe | 26.7% share in 2025

Pioneer projects and stringent certification requirements support premium demand, while high energy costs encourage some buyers to seek imports.

Middle East and Africa | 8.0% share in 2025

Saudi Arabian and other coastal projects seek to pair renewable power with export infrastructure, but project schedules remain important.

North America | 3.3% share in 2025

Electrolytic ammonia remains a small share of supply, with some producers favoring carbon capture on conventional plants.

Latin America | 1.8% share in 2025

Chile and Brazil have strong renewable resources and potential fertilizer or export demand, producing the fastest modeled regional growth from a small base.

Market Challenges

Renewable ammonia generally costs more to produce than conventional ammonia. Intermittent wind and solar power complicate operation of the synthesis loop and can require storage or grid balancing.

Many proposed projects lack binding buyers, permitting or funding. Uncertain global shipping rules can delay marine-fuel demand, so developers often prioritize fertilizer and chemical customers first.

Future Outlook

The strongest near-term projects are likely to be those with verified renewable electricity, certification and binding offtake. China remains an early production center while India and Gulf projects could expand exports later in the decade.

Marine fuel demand may eventually diversify the customer base, but the timeline is uncertain. Investors should distinguish operating tonnage from proposed capacity and account for power variability, shipping costs and policy risk.

Competitive Landscape

Envision Energy, State Power Investment Corporation and China Energy Engineering are linked to operating Chinese renewable ammonia projects. AM Green, ACME Group and NEOM Green Hydrogen Company are export developers, while Yara and Iberdrola participate in European pioneer projects. Air Products is a NEOM co-owner and contracted offtaker, not simply an independent ammonia producer. Fortescue is excluded from the active producer list because it canceled selected hydrogen projects in 2025. No reliable comparable company-by-company green ammonia revenue ranking is available.
