Eurelectric: Unlock EV flexibility to save money for customers and optimise the power grid

Published

on

BRUSSELS, March 5, 2025 /PRNewswire/ — An electric vehicle (EV) owner in Europe could save €450-€2,900 every year by utilising both smart & bidirectional charging – shows Eurelectric-EY’s new study. Through smart charging, EV batteries can store excess electricity and with vehicle-to-grid (V2G) technologies, they can sell it back to the grid during peak demand, helping balance the grid, reduce congestion and integrate variable renewables. Yet, consumers lack clear economic incentives to provide this service. Unlocking this potential requires clear price signals, enhanced access to flexibility markets, and interoperable data across the e-mobility ecosystem.

Europe’s flexibility needs are set to double in the next five years as more renewables enter the system and end-use sectors electrify. EV batteries could provide around 114 TWh of battery capacity by 2030 – enough to power 30 million homes every year – equal to 4% of Europe’s projected annual power demand. Yet, this potential remains largely untapped.

“Our study shows EVs can help drivers make money while stabilising the power system, but customers need choice in the market and clear incentives to act.”– said Eurelectric‘s Secretary General Kristian Ruby.

EV sales have passed the early adopters stage and must now convince mainstream consumers. Yet, high upfront costs remain the main barrier to EV adoption, which slightly declined year-on-year in 2024, while already picking up in 2025. By providing flexibility, however, consumers could benefit from much lower running costs, bringing the total cost of EV ownership below that of conventional cars.

Charging availability is another source of concern. Public chargers grew by 30% in 2024, reaching more than 820,000 units but must grow even faster to get to the Commission’s 3.5 million target by 2030. This means installing 8,600 chargers per week.

“For consumers to play an active role in flexibility, the entire e-mobility ecosystem must help them consider EVs as something more than simply a means of getting from A to B. Easy-to-use smart-charging propositions with clear cost benefits are critical.”– added Serge Colle EY’s Global Power & Utilities Sector Leader.

On the grid side, distribution system operators (DSOs) could benefit from around €4 billion savings annually as higher flexibility partially reduces infrastructure expansion needs. Yet, this can only succeed if DSO can employ real-time digital monitoring and have access to interoperable data at no cost.

Let’s turn potential into power.

Fowler White Clients Allege First Horizon Failed to Stop $6.5 Million Fraud Despite Prior Warning Signs

Three Florida lawsuits allege more than $24 million in unauthorized transfers involving similar account takeover tactics

MIAMI, Oct. 21, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — Fowler White Burnett attorneys representing K&A Rosario Holdings, LLC and MJR Fund I, Inc. have filed an amended federal complaint against First Horizon Bank seeking reimbursement of more than $4.5 million remaining from approximately $6.5 million in allegedly unauthorized wire transfers.

The complaint alleges First Horizon permitted the transfers despite prior knowledge of similar fraudulent activity involving other customers. Three pending Florida lawsuits collectively allege more than $24 million in unauthorized or fraudulent transfers between December 2025 and March 2026.

According to the amended complaint, an unauthorized caller contacted First Horizon on March 3, 2026, requesting assistance accessing an account after claiming to have a new cellphone. Within minutes, the accounts were allegedly accessed from an unfamiliar New York IP address. Approximately $6.52 million was subsequently transferred to recipients with whom K&A and MJR allegedly had no prior business relationship.

The complaint alleges First Horizon had been notified in January of an earlier account takeover involving Rabideau Klein, P.A., which alleges approximately $17.28 million in unauthorized wires. The K&A/MJR complaint further alleges $2.29 million went to the same overseas recipient associated with transfers during that earlier incident. A third lawsuit by Nosich & Ganz alleges approximately $604,500 in unauthorized transfers following a December 2025 account takeover.

“The allegations raise serious questions about what First Horizon knew following the earlier incidents and what measures were taken to protect customers from similar attacks,” said Victor M. Velarde, a shareholder at Fowler White. “Our clients are seeking recovery of more than $4.5 million that remains unreimbursed.”

Velarde and Chloe M. Horton of Fowler White represent K&A and MJR in the federal action pending in the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Florida.

Limber Health Launches Recovery Forecast, the First-Ever Predicted Outcomes Solution for Rehab Therapy

Built on the largest risk-adjusted patient outcomes database in rehab therapy, Limber’s Recovery Forecast replaces traditional single point-in-time forecasts or MCID comparisons with a 90-day outlook

PITTSBURGH, Oct. 21, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — Limber Health, a Net Health company, today announced Recovery Forecast, the first-ever predicted outcomes trajectory solution for rehab therapy. Built into the Limber outcomes platform, Recovery Forecast maps each patient’s expected path throughout care by comparing them with millions of completed assessments and applying robust risk adjustment. Available to clients this fall, this new clinical capability covers the primary MSK regions of injury.

“Current solutions show a point-in-time measurement, but rarely provide context or insight into the score,” said Nirav Modi, president of Limber Health. “Recovery Forecast shows clinicians how a patient is progressing through their plan of care, so they can assess, adjust, and guide them toward the best possible improvement.”

Because Limber Outcomes follows patients from evaluation through the full episode of care, the expected path stays visible between visits. At intake, the feature predicts each patient’s path; then at each reassessment, clinicians compare the actual score with the prediction for real-time context. This gives clinicians an opportunity to adjust the course of care.

“Being able to predict a patient’s outcome trajectory is a game changer,” said Brian Kelly, Vice President of Innovation & Clinical Excellence at Ivy Health. “It transforms outcomes data into real-time clinical intelligence that enhances patient engagement, empowers proactive clinical decision-making, and ensures every patient is positioned for an optimal recovery.”

A newly developed progression indicator, the Predicted Moderate Clinical Improvement (P-MCI), marks where a patient is expected to reach clinically meaningful improvement. P-MCI is already part of commercial payer quality programs. It underpins five functional improvement measures in the CMS proposed rule for the 2027 Physician Fee Schedule, with Limber Health and Patient360 as measure stewards.
