Corinex Launches Grid Intelligence Node to Reveal the True State of the Low-Voltage Grid

Published

on

By

VANCOUVER, BC, Aug. 24, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — Corinex has announced the launch of the Grid Intelligence Node (GIN), bringing near-real-time measurement and event detection to low-voltage feeders.

GIN provides high-precision insight into actual network conditions, creating a grid-truth layer that helps distribution system operators identify constraints, assess available capacity and verify whether grid actions delivered the intended result.

Turning feeder data into actionable grid intelligence

GIN combines high-performance broadband powerline communications with integrated current, voltage, and power-quality monitoring. Installed in secondary substations, street cabinets, and lateral branches, it gives utilities a clearer view of loading and operating conditions across the low-voltage network.

“Electrification is placing new demands on low-voltage grids, but utilities lack the information needed to see or predict where constraints are emerging,” said Sam Shi, Chief Technology Officer at Corinex. “GIN tells the DSO when, where and how much control is needed. It provides the evidence for intervention.”

Key technical capabilities include:

Three-phase voltage and current measurement with RMS error ≤0.5%Measurement of power, power factor, frequency and energyHarmonic monitoring up to the 51st harmonic and total harmonic distortionDetection of voltage sags and swells, overloads and phase imbalanceOne-minute operational snapshots, 15-minute energy aggregates and optional one-second reportingSupport for split-core CT or Rogowski coil sensorsDirect connection to 230/400 V networks and MQTT data transmissionAn operating temperature range of −25°C to +70°C, with an IP67-rated enclosure option

GIN combines high-precision metering for secondary substations with BPL communications, allowing feeder-level measurements and power-quality data to be transmitted through the existing low-voltage network. Monitoring up to the 51st harmonic, alongside the detection of voltage sags and swells, overloads and phase imbalance, helps utilities identify operational issues where they emerge and verify the impact of grid interventions.

Building more accurate digital twins

GIN measurements can feed directly into Corinex Plexigrid Intelligence, connecting near-real-time field data with advanced grid modelling and optimization.

Corinex technology observes conditions across the physical grid, while Plexigrid software reconstructs, models and optimizes the network. Together, they give DSOs a digital representation that more closely reflects actual loading, voltage and power-quality conditions.

This enhanced digital twin helps utilities:

Improve low-voltage state estimation and grid model accuracy.Assess available capacity for electric vehicles, heat pumps, and photovoltaic systems.Determine whether constraints should be addressed through flexibility or physical reinforcement.

The result is greater certainty about grid assets and operating conditions, with less reliance on planning assumptions, delayed meter data, and estimated load profiles.

“Digital twins are only as reliable as the information behind them,” Shi added. “GIN grounds the model in near-real-time measurements from the physical grid, helping utilities understand available capacity and make better-informed decisions as electrification grows.”

Add intelligence without rebuilding the network

GIN gives utilities a practical way to expand low-voltage visibility through infrastructure already in place. Designed for retrofit installations, it combines Corinex BPL repeater and Ethernet functionality while adding advanced measurement and event detection.

Existing low-voltage power lines carry both communications and measurement data. GridValue™ manages the Corinex BPL network and connected devices, while measurement data can support Corinex Plexigrid Intelligence, ADMS, SCADA and other digital-grid platforms. Utilities can gain a clearer view of network conditions without deploying a separate communications layer or installing revenue-grade meters at every monitoring point.

Its compact, IP67-rated enclosure is designed for demanding grid environments, while split-core current transformer and Rogowski coil options support different conductor sizes and cabinet layouts. GIN provides one-minute operational snapshots and 15-minute energy aggregates, with integration through Ethernet, Modbus RTU, and Modbus TCP.

The Corinex Grid Intelligence Node is available for utility evaluations, pilot projects, and commercial deployments.

About Corinex

Corinex is a leading provider of grid intelligence and digital reinforcement for low-voltage and medium-voltage distribution networks. Its platform combines broadband powerline communications, real-time sensing, grid modelling and edge control to help utilities identify constraints, manage congestion, and expand usable capacity through existing infrastructure.

Zoomcar and Uber partner to give travelers more ways to plan road trips

Now compare self-drive and chauffeur-driven Intercity options within the Zoomcar app

BENGALURU, India and NEW YORK, Aug. 24, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — Zoomcar (OTCQB: ZCAR), India’s leading peer-to-peer car-sharing platform, and Uber (NYSE: UBER), India’s most-loved ride-hailing app, have joined hands to make planning road trips easier and simpler. Now, travelers searching for a self-drive vehicle on the Zoomcar app will also be able to discover and book Uber Intercity rides in case they prefer to get chauffeur-driven cars. The partnership will give Zoomcar app users the choice to pick a self-drive option or take a back seat with an Uber Intercity driver at the wheel – comparing the options at one place and choosing what suits them best for their travel needs.

The collaboration brings together two complementary travel options on select routes for one-way or round trips. The integration delivers a richer mobility experience for a growing segment of Indian travelers who value flexibility, premium experiences and access over ownership. The partnership has gone live in Bengaluru, Delhi NCR and Mumbai, with plans to expand to more cities over time.

Deepankar Tiwari, Chief Executive Officer, Zoomcar Holdings, Inc., said: “Zoomcar is where India’s most intentional travelers come to plan how they move. Some of them want the freedom of a self-drive car. Others, on other days or other trips, want the comfort of being driven. Both needs are valid, and both deserve a world-class experience. By partnering with Uber, we’re making sure that when a Zoomcar user faces that choice, they don’t have to leave our platform to find the answer. That’s what serving the traveler fully looks like.”

Rishant Ghosh, Director of Consumer & Growth, Uber India & South Asia, said: “Uber Intercity has increasingly become the preferred choice for travel across cities, with demand growing across Tier-2 and metro markets alike. We’re also seeing more Indians choose road trips for weekend getaways, family visits and holidays. Through this partnership with Zoomcar, we’re making Uber Intercity accessible to even more travelers, giving them another convenient way to book reliable, comfortable outstation rides.”

The Consumer at the Heart of It: Access Over Ownership

Both Zoomcar and Uber reflect a broader shift in how Indians think about mobility. Increasingly, consumers are choosing access over ownership, opting for flexible, on-demand transportation instead of owning a vehicle. For some journeys, that means the freedom of driving themselves through Zoomcar. For others, it means the convenience of sitting back in an Uber Intercity ride. This partnership brings both choices together, allowing travelers to compare self-drive and chauffeur-driven options in one place and choose what best suits each trip.

The same traveler may choose to drive on one journey and be driven on the next. By bringing both experiences together, Zoomcar and Uber are making it easier to choose the right option for every journey, while serving a growing segment of travel enthusiasts looking for greater flexibility, convenience and choice.
