Life sciences leaders Ramon Felciano and Rickard El Tarzi join board as company scales commercialization of its molecular cell architecture platform

STOCKHOLM, Aug. 20, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — Pixelgen Technologies, developer of the first high-throughput platform for mapping molecular cell architecture, today announced it has closed an oversubscribed $15.5 million (approximately SEK 150 million) Series B financing to accelerate global commercialization of its Proxiome Kit and expand the company’s presence in key markets. The financing round was led by new investor Flat Capital, with continued participation from existing investors Industrifonden and Navigare Ventures.

“This financing gives us the resources to expand globally as demand grows for our Proxiome Kit and our data analysis and visualization software,” said Pixelgen CEO and co-Founder Simon Fredriksson, PhD. “We’re proud to have Flat Capital join us and to have the continued confidence of Navigare and Industrifonden. Their support will help accelerate our commercial reach, grow our team and product portfolio, and bring molecular cell architecture to more researchers and new applications.”

Pixelgen’s Proxiome Kit is the first platform to enable high-throughput mapping of molecular cell architecture at nanoscale resolution, providing researchers with a new way to study cell function and disease mechanisms. While conventional proteomic approaches primarily measure protein abundance, the Proxiome Kit reveals how proteins are organized, clustered and localized on the surface of individual cells. Powered by the Proximity Network Assay, the Proxiome Kit enables researchers to investigate architectural features of cell state, disease and treatment response that are not captured by abundance measurements alone.

“Pixelgen’s technology gives researchers the ability to study disease mechanisms and identify novel biomarkers in an entirely new way. We believe this could open new avenues for research in cancer, immunology and autoimmune disease, while broadening our understanding of basic biology,” said Rickard El Tarzi, CEO of Flat Capital. “Pixelgen’s leadership team has successfully commercialized multiple life sciences products globally, and we look forward to supporting the company through its next phase of growth.”

Alongside the financing, Pixelgen is adding Flat Capital CEO Rickard El Tarzi and life sciences industry veteran Ramon Felciano, Ph.D, to its board of directors.

El Tarzi brings extensive experience in investments, strategic development and board leadership from his time in private equity and industry. He joins the board in his capacity as CEO of Flat Capital. Previous experience includes serving as Chief Strategy & Product Officer at Olink Proteomics, now part of Thermo Fisher Scientifc, where he helped shape the company’s strategic direction through its initial public offering and eventual sale.

Ramon Felciano, Ph.D., is a life sciences technology entrepreneur working at the intersection of data, technology, and life sciences. He founded Ingenuity Systems, a pioneer in AI-driven genome interpretation and precision medicine, acquired by QIAGEN in 2013 for $105 million. At QIAGEN he served as chief technology officer and vice president of data strategy, founding QIAGEN Digital Insights, the company’s industry-leading molecular data and AI software business unit. On the board, Felciano will work with Pixelgen’s leadership to build digital capabilities (software and data) that help translate the company’s technical differentiation – the molecular cell architecture platform – into company-level competitive advantage.

“Rickard and Ramon bring highly complementary experience to Pixelgen at an important stage in our growth,” Fredriksson said. “Rickard understands what it takes to scale and commercialize life sciences research platforms globally, while Ramon has built AI and data businesses with products that have been adopted by biotech R&D, a key sector for us moving forward.”

JK Tech Names Mahesh Ramakrishnan as New Chief Technology Officer

Published

By

BENGALURU, India and NOIDA, India, Oct. 12, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — JK Tech, a specialist AI and data solutions provider, has announced the appointment of Mahesh Ramakrishnan as Chief Technology Officer (CTO). The appointment reinforces JK Tech’s commitment to building a future-ready technology organization and accelerating innovation as enterprises move from digital and AI experimentation toward scaled, business-led transformation.

Mahesh brings 26 years of experience across software, product engineering, technology strategy, and emerging technologies. He founded Tataatsu Idealabs and led it for 13+ years, building the natural language processing products CollabLayer and Seer, years before large language models went mainstream. Earlier, he was Global Head of Sell-Side Research Products at Thomson Reuters. At Capco, as Principal Consultant, he headed the Compose product business through its sale to Thomson Reuters. At JK Tech, he is leading JIVA’s move from retrieval to reasoning: agents that work across an enterprise’s structured and unstructured knowledge to solve multi-step business problems.

As CTO, Mahesh will lead the development and execution of JK Tech’s technology vision for its next phase of growth, with a central focus on integrating and scaling JK Tech’s three flagship platforms- JIVA, Ontologos, and Orbiee, into a single, connected technology fabric. His mandate will span strengthening technology foundations, advancing the company’s platforms and solutions, fostering engineering excellence, and building differentiated capabilities that address evolving enterprise needs. Under his leadership, JIVA’s Gen AI orchestration, Ontologos’ semantic and ontology-driven intelligence, and engineering capabilities will converge with Orbiee to create a unified, hyper-personalized ecosystem, bringing intelligence, orchestration, and engineering together to deliver differentiated, outcome-driven experiences for clients.

Sameer Nagpal, President & CEO, JK Tech, said, “Technology is central to JK Tech’s ambition and to the value we create for our clients. Mahesh brings the experience, product mindset, and breadth of technology perspective needed to shape our next phase of innovation. His leadership will help us strengthen our technology foundations, accelerate our capabilities, and translate our vision into solutions that create meaningful business impact.”

Talking about his new role, Mahesh Ramakrishnan said, “I see an opportunity to build on JK Tech’s strong technology and domain capabilities and create a clear, cohesive technology vision, one that delivers lasting, measurable ROI for our clients. Most enterprises already hold the answers to their own questions. Those answers sit across databases, documents, mail and decades of code, and getting at one still means waiting for an analyst to build a report. We want to shorten that path, so that people in the business can ask a question and get an answer drawn from both structured and unstructured data. That depends on doing the groundwork on the data properly, and it is where much of our effort is going. JIVA is the platform for it. The knowledge graphs we extract give our agents the meaning behind the data, and with that they can reason through a problem across many sources. We will build it with domain-specific agentic workflows and small language models that run inside a client’s own environment, so their data stays with them and each answer costs less. The same capability lets us read legacy enterprise code and recover the business rules buried in it, often the slowest and riskiest part of any modernization.”

As part of this vision, JK Tech will embed AI into everyday operations across every department, becoming an AI-first organization.

Global business leaders share ideas on AI-driven growth in Shanghai

Published

By

SHANGHAI, Oct. 12, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — A news report from english.shanghai.gov.cn

Shanghai should better leverage artificial intelligence to integrate services with manufacturing and consumption and nurture more growth engines, experts and executives from leading multinational companies said.

The comments were made during the 38th meeting of the International Business Leaders’ Advisory Council for the Mayor of Shanghai, held on Oct 11 under the theme of promoting innovation-driven development of the service sector.

Initiated in 1989, the IBLAC has grown into a think tank for Shanghai mayors, with 42 multinational executives from 14 countries attending this year’s edition.

Shanghai has a unique advantage to better leverage technology thanks to its strong industrial base, its close ties with the rest of the Yangtze River Delta region and a mature service industry, Mohamed Kande, global chairman of PwC, said.

He suggested Shanghai connect technologies, research and capital with international service providers to address real-economy challenges.

Sir Martin Sorrell, founder and executive chairman of S4 Capital and former chairman of IBLAC, said that Shanghai is becoming a testing ground for global AI governance and the intelligent transformation of the services sector.

For the global service sector, AI has seen its role transitioning from an efficiency tool to a “value-chain restructurer”. Shanghai should thus further align with international rules, facilitate data flow, open up more application scenarios, build up a more talent-friendly ecosystem and seek international coordination to make it a global innovation hub for AI-empowered services, he suggested.

Applauding Shanghai’s strong manufacturing foundation as well as a rich pool of AI companies, professional service providers, multinational companies and long-term capital, Zhang Lei, founder and chairman of Hillhouse Investment, said that the city should attach greater importance to the real deployment of AI.

More key scenarios that affect companies’ operations should be opened up. Shanghai should also cultivate a group of forward-deployed engineers and professional service enterprises that understand both AI and industries. In this way, more AI applications and service capabilities successfully tested in the Chinese market can go global from Shanghai, he said.

According to Gary S. Guthart, executive chair of the board of directors at Intuitive Surgical, combining high-quality medical data with AI and robotics can create new frontiers in medical care. Shanghai has unique advantages for such transformation by piloting the development of high-quality datasets for robot-assisted surgeries, experimenting with new approaches for secure medical data sharing, and building a “Shanghai model” for the responsible use of medical data that can be replicated nationwide.

Jean-Paul Agon, chairman of L’Oreal Group, believed that AI can provide consumers with tailor-made products by connecting the online and offline shopping experiences. He added that Shanghai should improve its business ecosystem to become a hub connecting global innovation rules.
