Webinar explores how mentors, peer networks, employee resource groups and community connections help individuals access support, opportunities and shared learning

PHOENIX, Sept. 3, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — University of Phoenix will host the next installment of its Bridging Perspectives webinar series, “Build the Network That Advances Your Career: Mentors, Peers & Community,” on Thursday, Sept. 17, 2026, at 11 a.m. MST. Presented by the Office of Collaborative Learning and Educational Engagement, the webinar is designed for higher education leaders, employers, nonprofit organizations, University of Phoenix faculty, staff, students, alumni, and community members. The session will explore how individuals build meaningful networks and leverage mentorship, peer relationships, and community connections to access guidance, share knowledge, and create opportunities for growth.

“Professional growth is often fueled by the connections we make along the way,” said Tondra Richardson, MBA, director, Engagement Strategy & Program Development at University of Phoenix. “This conversation will highlight practical ways individuals can cultivate meaningful networks, exchange knowledge, access mentorship, and help create opportunities for themselves and others.”

Exploring the Role of Networks, Mentorship and Community

Across workplaces, campuses, nonprofit organizations, and community settings, individuals are often navigating environments where formal support structures may be limited, evolving, under-resourced, or difficult to access. As a result, many turn to trusted networks including peers, mentors, employee resource groups, student organizations, alumni communities, and colleagues for guidance, support, and shared problem-solving.

The webinar will examine how these networks are built, why they matter, and how they help individuals move from isolation to connection and from uncertainty to shared learning. Panelists will discuss how mentorship, peer communities, and shared experiences can foster trust, facilitate knowledge-sharing, help individuals navigate unwritten rules, and provide access to opportunities and resources.

Panelists Share Perspectives on Connection and Shared Learning

Featured panelists include:

Jelisa Dallas, Student Organization Program Manager and AACE ERG Lead, University of PhoenixMari Marques-Thomas, Vice President, Impact & Belonging, Crum & Forster, and University of Phoenix alumnaEvener Scott, Director, Belonging, HonorHealth

Together, the panelists will share perspectives on mentorship, relationship-building, peer communities, and the role networks play in helping individuals share knowledge, gain support, build confidence, and access opportunities.

Practical Strategies for Building Supportive Networks

Rather than focusing on broad discussions of belonging, the session will explore practical approaches individuals can build within their own communities and organizations, including mentoring circles, peer check-ins, resource exchanges, leadership pathways, warm introductions, shared knowledge hubs, and community practices that do not depend on formal authority or perfect systems. Participants will leave with strategies they can use to strengthen mentorship, support, and connection within their own spheres of influence, one relationship, one resource, and one bridge at a time.

The Bridging Perspectives webinar series aims to foster cultural awareness around timely issues, encourage thought leadership, and strengthen community connections through meaningful dialogue and shared learning.

SAFE Structure Designs Demonstrates Financial Resilience Amid $4.7 Million in Unpaid Receivables

Las Vegas defense manufacturer credits Christian faith, financial stewardship and its American manufacturing workforce while continuing to support small fabrication partners.

WASHINGTON, Oct. 27, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — SAFE Structure Designs, a U.S. defense engineering and manufacturing company, is highlighting the importance of financial stewardship and domestic supply-chain resilience after navigating approximately $4.7 million in unpaid customer receivables tied to completed manufacturing work. The company says it maintained operations, fulfilled customer commitments and paid the employees, material suppliers, fabrication shops and skilled vendors supporting its projects.

A $4.7 Million Financial Challenge—and a Testimony of Faith

For President and CEO Johnny Buscema, the experience was more than a business challenge. It was a personal testimony to the Christian principles upon which SAFE Structure was built: honoring commitments, stewarding resources responsibly and trusting Jesus Christ through difficult circumstances.

“By God’s grace, we built SAFE on a foundation that prepared us for difficult circumstances,” said Buscema. “Facing approximately $4.7 million in unpaid receivables was a serious challenge. Yet we continued paying the people and businesses that depended on us. We give Jesus Christ all the glory for carrying us through this season and allowing us to keep our word.”

SAFE Structure says its disciplined approach to managing cash flow and obligations helped the company continue its defense manufacturing work without shifting the financial burden onto its manufacturing partners. The reference to unpaid receivables describes the company’s own experience and is not intended as an allegation against any customer or other party.

Supporting Small American Manufacturing Businesses

SAFE Structure performs engineering and manufacturing work while collaborating with U.S.-based material suppliers, fabrication shops and specialized trade partners when projects require additional capabilities. These relationships support American welders, machinists, engineers and other skilled workers serving military and government missions.

In a separate effort, Buscema recently provided financial assistance to a small fabrication partner experiencing financial strain, including an unsecured loan intended to help the business address high-interest debt and sustain operations.

“Behind every shop are families, workers and years of craftsmanship,” said Buscema. “When a dependable partner faces a difficult season and we have the ability to help, our faith calls us to put our values into action. Supporting American manufacturing means standing alongside the people who do the work.”

Building America Through Defense Manufacturing

Headquartered in Las Vegas, Nevada, SAFE Structure Designs develops custom engineered products, military support equipment and manufacturing solutions for U.S. defense and government applications. Its capabilities span design, engineering, fabrication, precision manufacturing and systems integration across land, air and maritime requirements.

“Our faith in Jesus Christ guides how we lead and how we treat people,” said Buscema. “Everything we have accomplished is through God’s grace. We want to build a company that honors Him, supports American families and helps strengthen this nation’s manufacturing future.”

Arizona College of Nursing Awards $15,000 in Jen Hamilton Scholarships to Three Students

Jen Hamilton personally selected three scholarship recipients from more than 500 student essays focused on compassion and the human side of nursing

PHOENIX, Oct. 27, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — Arizona College of Nursing (AZCN) announced today the recipients of its 2026 Jen Hamilton Scholarships, awarding $5,000 each to three nursing students whose stories demonstrated the role compassion can play in patient care.

More than 500 Arizona College of Nursing students submitted essays for consideration sharing how compassion will influence the nurse they hope to become. Following an initial review of the submissions, labor and delivery nurse, content creator and #1 New York Times bestselling author Jen Hamilton personally selected the three scholarship recipients: Jennifer Henry, at AZCN’s Tempe campus, Joanna Kamanzi, at AZCN’s Dallas campus, and Vanessa Rincon-Flores, at AZCN’s Fort Worth campus.

“Jennifer, Joanna and Vanessa represent the sense of purpose and compassion we see in students across Arizona College of Nursing,” said Jason E. Anderson, Chief Executive Officer of AZCN. “Preparing the next generation of nurses requires more than helping students develop clinical knowledge and skills. It also means reinforcing the humanity at the heart of nursing. We are proud to recognize these students and invest in their education as they prepare to care for patients and communities.”

A Commitment to Compassionate Nursing Care

For scholarship recipient Jennifer Henry, compassion means recognizing when care requires something beyond a clinical task. In her scholarship essay, Henry described supporting a dying patient who was alone and choosing to sit beside the patient during those final moments.

“I carry that night with me. I want to be the nurse who notices when a patient is scared and sits down instead of rushing out,” Henry wrote. “I want to be the nurse who understands that sometimes the most meaningful care happens in silence. And I want to be the nurse who honors every patient’s humanity, especially in their most vulnerable moments.”

The scholarships build on Hamilton’s relationship with Arizona College of Nursing and its students. In May 2026, Hamilton joined AZCN for its first cross-campus student livestream, where students from across the College submitted more than 100 questions about nursing school, patient advocacy, confidence and building a fulfilling career in nursing.

During the conversation, Hamilton encouraged nursing students to give themselves the opportunity to develop confidence through experience rather than expecting perfection from the beginning.

“I think one of the worst things you could do is expect perfection of yourself right away,” Hamilton told students. “Confidence doesn’t come right away. It comes when you prove to yourself that you can do it.”

Arizona College of Nursing

Arizona College of Nursing’s purpose is to provide people the opportunity to enhance their lives through education. Arizona College of Nursing offers a three-year Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education. The BSN program is offered at 24 campuses across 15 states and is designed to prepare students for a career as a Registered Nurse (RN). Arizona College of Nursing campuses are institutionally accredited by the Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES), a U.S. Department of Education-recognized national accrediting agency.
