QC Healthcare Announces Strategic Collaboration with Sanguina to Deploy AI-Powered Blood Health Technologies Across Nationwide Healthcare Platforms

Published

on

Collaboration will integrate Sanguina‘s AI-enabled patented fingernail analysis technology into My Pediatric Doctor and My Adult Doctor, with future applications through My VA Doctor and My Oncology Doctor and across maternal health, veterans’ health, oncology, hospital systems, clinical trials, and global healthcare initiatives.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. and ATLANTA, Sept. 22, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — QC Healthcare, a national healthcare innovation company focused on transforming patient access through technology, artificial intelligence, and connected care solutions, today announced a strategic collaboration with Sanguina, an AI-powered digital health company specializing in non-invasive fingernail analysis to derive blood health insights.

Through this collaboration, QC Healthcare will integrate Sanguina‘s innovative AI-driven screening capabilities for anemia, circulation, and other blood-health risk profiles across its growing healthcare ecosystem. The initial deployment will focus on My Pediatric Doctor, a nationwide 24/7 pediatric urgent care and primary care telehealth platform, and My Adult Doctor, a national 24/7 adult urgent care and primary care platform, with future applications planned for My VA Doctor and My Oncology Doctor.

The collaboration represents a significant advancement in the shared mission of QC Healthcare and Sanguina to deliver proactive, accessible, technology-enabled healthcare by bringing advanced screening tools directly into virtual care pathways. By leveraging artificial intelligence, digital biomarkers, and accessible patient-centered technology, QC Healthcare and Sanguina aim to improve early identification of issues in blood health, enhance remote clinical decision-making, and support more personalized healthcare delivery.

Addressing Global Healthcare Challenges Through Accessible Detection and Tracking

Anemia remains one of the most common blood-related conditions worldwide, affecting an estimated 1.9 billion people. Children, adults, pregnant and postpartum women, older adults, individuals with chronic diseases, cancer patients, and frequent blood donors are among the populations that may face elevated anemia risk and associated complications.

Most people learn their hemoglobin is low only when a lab draw happens to catch it. Between appointments, both patients and their care teams have no visibility at all. Sanguina‘s technology was built to close that gap, enabling frequent or on demand and personalized anemia screenings.

Additionally, Sanguina‘s circulation technology turns a fingernail video into a second measure of blood health. The Circulation Score quantifies the time and speed at which blood returns to the fingertips after they are briefly pressed and released, digitizing a bedside assessment clinicians have long used when evaluating peripheral perfusion. In the home setting, objective circulation trends may provide useful context for telehealth evaluations and may help clinicians determine whether follow-up assessment is appropriate for patients with symptoms or conditions associated with impaired circulation, dehydration, vascular disease, diabetes, cardiovascular concerns, recovery after illness or surgery, and other acute or chronic health needs. The score is intended to support screening, monitoring, and clinical decision-making; it is not, by itself, a diagnosis or a replacement for laboratory testing, physical examination, or emergency evaluation when indicated.

Integration into QC Healthcare‘s platforms puts it into use at national scale. By incorporating AI-enabled screening capabilities into digital healthcare workflows, QC Healthcare and Sanguina anticipate that patients can be identified earlier, evaluated more efficiently, and connected with appropriate clinical pathways before conditions become more serious.

“This collaboration represents the future direction of healthcare – moving from reactive treatment toward earlier identification, informed follow-up, and prevention,” said Eric Doherty, CEO of QC Healthcare. “By combining QC Healthcare‘s nationwide virtual care ecosystem with Sanguina‘s innovative AI technology, we can help bring meaningful blood-health information into the home and connect it to licensed clinical care. That opportunity extends across the families served by My Pediatric Doctor and My Adult Doctor today, as well as pregnant and postpartum women, veterans, and people navigating cancer who may benefit from the future My VA Doctor and My Oncology Doctor platforms.”

“Telehealth medicine enables accessible care,” said Erika Tyburski, CEO and Co-Founder of Sanguina. “Our fingernail analysis technologies push the accessible model further by equipping telehealth with on-demand tools that can be used at home to help fill missing data points between clinical interactions. Working with QC Healthcare creates an opportunity to connect anemia and circulation insights with care pathways serving children, adults, pregnant and postpartum women, veterans, and oncology patients at national scale.”

The initial focus of the collaboration will include integrating anemia and circulation screening into My Pediatric Doctor and My Adult Doctor, followed by evaluation of future applications across QC Healthcare‘s expanding platform portfolio.

Pediatric and Adult Virtual Care

Across My Pediatric Doctor, a nationwide 24/7 pediatric urgent care and primary care telehealth platform, anemia is a routine concern in childhood development, nutrition, and chronic disease management – and one that ordinarily requires a lab visit to investigate. My Adult Doctor, QC Healthcare‘s national 24/7 adult platform, serves patients managing fatigue and unexplained symptoms, adults with chronic conditions requiring ongoing monitoring, women during pregnancy and after childbirth, and patients participating in preventive health evaluations. In both settings, a between-visit blood-health history can provide clinicians with added context when deciding whether laboratory testing, an in-person examination, referral, or other follow-up is warranted.

Maternal Health, Oncology, and Veterans’ Care

Pregnancy and the postpartum period are major areas of potential impact. Iron needs rise during pregnancy, and blood loss during delivery can contribute to postpartum anemia. When clinically appropriate, convenient at-home screening and trend information could help women and their care teams recognize changes sooner, support follow-up after delivery, and connect patients with confirmatory testing and treatment. QC Healthcare‘s relationship with families through My Adult Doctor and My Pediatric Doctor creates a natural bridge between maternal care and pediatric care during a period when mothers may otherwise place their own health needs behind those of a newborn. Cancer patients may experience anemia related to disease, treatment, blood loss, or nutrition, and QC Healthcare‘s planned My Oncology Doctor platform is intended to support monitoring and care coordination between oncology visits. My VA Doctor, also in development, will extend appropriate blood-health and circulation applications to veterans, including those managing chronic disease, mobility limitations, recovery needs, or barriers to in-person care.

Building a Digital Blood Health Network

The collaboration draws on capabilities both companies are assembling into a single connected care network — artificial intelligence, telehealth, digital diagnostics, remote monitoring, data analytics, clinical research, and preventive care operating as one pathway rather than seven separate services. That integration is also what makes the model portable. The infrastructure gap that keeps a rural patient from a routine blood panel is the same gap facing health organizations across much of the world, and both companies intend to pursue international deployments, working with healthcare organizations abroad to adapt the model for populations where laboratory access is thinnest, and the need is greatest.

Health Systems, Payers, and Employers

Beyond direct-to-patient virtual care, the two companies will pursue potential deployments with hospitals, health systems, employers, payers, maternal-health programs, veterans’ organizations, oncology programs, and research partners. Potential applications include remote monitoring, population health and chronic disease management, prenatal and postpartum follow-up, discharge follow-up, preventive health campaigns, and clinically guided pathways for additional evaluation.

Clinical Research and Evidence Generation

The collaboration will also support clinical validation studies, real-world evidence generation, and clinical trial recruitment and coordination, drawing on Sanguina‘s published clinical data and QC Healthcare‘s nationwide patient reach. Any expansion into new clinical uses will follow appropriate clinical validation and regulatory review.

Darkhorse Releases Inaugural Insurance Agent Independence Index, Revealing Biggest Barriers to Agency Ownership

Published

The survey of 1,001 U.S. insurance agents finds financial risk and operational burden are equally significant obstacles to greater independence.

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz., Sept. 22, 2026 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ — Darkhorse Insurance Brokers, an agency ownership platform for insurance professionals, today released the 2026 Darkhorse Index of Insurance Agent Independence, a new recurring benchmark measuring how U.S. insurance agents view income, autonomy, agency ownership and the future of the industry. The first Index registered a score of 66.2 out of 100, establishing a national baseline for tracking changes in agent sentiment over time.

Darkhorse Insurance Brokers, an agency ownership platform for insurance professionals, today released the 2026 Darkhorse Index of Insurance Agent Independence, a new recurring benchmark measuring how U.S. insurance agents view income, autonomy, agency ownership and the future of the industry.

The national survey, conducted by Morning Consult on behalf of Darkhorse, reveals a notable gap between agents’ interest in greater independence and their readiness to pursue it. Over half of non-owner agents say they are likely to explore greater independence or agency ownership if the right platform, support system, and resources exist. Among the 427 respondents who rated themselves likely to explore greater independence or agency ownership, 85% selected a timeframe of one to five years when asked when they would most likely act if they pursued such a move.

Operational concern is as significant a barrier as financial concern, with each category accounting for 32% of the barriers agents report. The risk of losing current income or stability is the leading individual barrier at 20%. The financial and operational categories reflect Darkhorse’s grouping of individual survey responses.

“Insurance agents are not short on ambition. What many are missing is a support system that helps them navigate the transition to ownership and replace the operational infrastructure they currently rely on,” said Dan Garzella, founder of Darkhorse Insurance Brokers. “The Index gives the industry a clearer picture of what agents want, the barriers they face, and where better infrastructure and support could make ownership more attainable.”

Key Takeaways

Agents are more confident in reaching their professional goals than satisfied with their current agency models: 79% of agents are confident in their ability to achieve their professional goals, but only 66% are satisfied with their current agency model. The gap widens from 13 to 17 points among captive and semi-captive agents. Most agents associate greater structural freedom with greater earning potential: 78% of agents believe they could earn significantly more with greater flexibility over how they operate, grow, and serve clients.Agency owners reported the highest level of satisfaction: 91% of agency owners are satisfied with their current model, compared with 63% of captive and semi-captive agents and 57% of independent non-owner agents.Owners see industrywide obstacles to building meaningful ownership: 59% of agency owners agree that the insurance industry makes meaningful ownership difficult to build – the highest share of any agent segment.Operational burden rivals financial risk: Operational and financial concerns each account for 32% of reported barriers. Operational barriers include running an independent operation, hiring and retaining talent, obtaining back-office support, accessing carriers and implementing technology and systems. Most agents likely to explore greater independence or ownership select a one-to-five year timeframe: 85% of respondents who rated themselves likely to explore greater independence or ownership selected a timeframe of one to five years when asked when they would most likely act if they pursued such a move.

Building a Better Path to Agency Ownership

The findings suggest that ownership remains attractive, but the path to it presents substantial friction. Financial risk and operational complexity emerge as the two broadest categories of concern. Darkhorse is designed to reduce those pain points by providing carrier access, operational infrastructure, onboarding, training, and ongoing agency-success support – reducing the burden of building and operating every component of an independent agency alone.

“The agents who have reached ownership are telling us two things at once: the outcome is worth it, and the process is harder than it should be,” said Garzella. “Our goal is to remove unnecessary operational friction so qualified agents can build something of their own without having to construct every part of the business from scratch.”

The Darkhorse platform supports agents across critical functions that can otherwise make ownership difficult, allowing agency owners to focus more of their time on clients, growth, and long-term enterprise value.

The full 2026 Darkhorse Index of Insurance Agent Independence, including detailed findings and methodology, is available at darkhorseinsurance.com/insurance-agent-independence-index. Insurance professionals interested in evaluating their readiness for agency ownership can visit readiness.darkhorseinsurance.com.

Methodology

The 2026 Darkhorse Index of Insurance Agent Independence is based on a survey conducted by Morning Consult on behalf of Darkhorse Insurance Brokers. The survey was conducted through computer-assisted telephone interviewing from June 17 to July 7, 2026, among 1,001 U.S. insurance agents. Results from the full sample have a margin of error of plus or minus 3.1 percentage points. The sample included 480 captive and semi-captive agents, 347 independent non-owner agents, and 174 independent agency owners. Results are unweighted, and subgroup margins of error are wider.
