Aeon joins Austin’s leading deep tech companies following major defense contract awards, production milestones, and expansion of its manufacturing operations.
AUSTIN, Texas, Oct. 12, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — Aeon Industrial, a vertically integrated defense manufacturer developing advanced missile systems, interceptors, and critical defense subsystems, has been named to the inaugural 2026 Austin Deep Tech 50, a list recognizing companies driving innovation and industrial growth in Central Texas.
The list was organized by Overmatch Ventures in partnership with seven leading venture capital firms: Valor Equity Partners, 8VC, Banner VC, B Capital, Ambition Capital, Ensemble VC, and Trust Ventures. The Austin Deep Tech 50 recognizes 50 of the region’s most promising deep technology companies, highlighting the firms advancing critical technologies and shaping the next generation of American industry.
Aeon’s selection follows a series of major milestones as the company expands its defense manufacturing capabilities and scales production for the U.S. military, allied nations, and defense industry customers. The company also delivered ahead of schedule on a complex U.S. Army contract involving the development of an all-up weapon system and warhead, as well as successful live testing.
In recent weeks, Aeon has secured a key eight-figure defense contract, placed more than 10,000 of its MERC high-voltage electronic safe-and-arm devices into production following successful performance at the Department of War’s Drone Dominance initiative, and earned selection in the U.S. Army’s interceptor challenge with its layered air and missile defense architecture.
“America needs a defense industrial base capable of producing advanced weapons at the scale and cost required to meet today’s threats,” said Naweed Tahmas, Founder and CEO of Aeon Industrial. “We’re building that capability here in Austin. Being recognized for advancing American manufacturing and deep technology is a testament to our team and the industrial ecosystem taking shape in Texas.”
Aeon is expanding production at its new 140,000-square-foot manufacturing facility in Cedar Park, Texas, just outside Austin. The facility brings missile systems, interceptors, propulsion, fuzing, software, and assembly under one roof, enabling Aeon to manufacture complete weapon systems and critical subsystems at industrial scale for government and industry customers.
Aeon’s core portfolio includes Zeus, a lightweight, software-defined tactical missile system designed for shoulder-fired use and integration across ground, air, and maritime platforms. Zeus features interchangeable sensors and warheads, enabling a single system to address a wide range of threats, from drones to armored vehicles. The company also manufactures MERC, a low-cost, high-voltage electronic safe-and-arm device supporting time, proximity, and impact fuzing across drones, missiles, and interceptors. Both products are designed for affordability, scalability, and high-volume production.
Aeon’s vertically integrated manufacturing model is designed to reduce costs, accelerate production timelines, and deliver affordable mass to the U.S. military, allied nations, and defense industry customers.
