TECNO and Angélica Dass Unveil “100 Portraits of Becoming” Gallery, a Global Portrait Project Bringing 100 Ways to See Humanity

Published

on

Beginning with 20 portraits from Kenya and followed by the Philippines, the five-country project advances inclusive imaging toward a deeper human understanding of the people behind the image, exploring different ways of seeing people and the individual stories that shape their lives.

HONG KONG, Sept. 28, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — TECNO and internationally acclaimed visual artist Angélica Dass today unveiled the “100 Portraits of Becoming,” a two-year global portrait project spanning Kenya, the Philippines, Saudi Arabia, Türkiye and Brazil.

Launching with the first 20 portraits and personal stories from Kenya, the project will ultimately bring together 100 individuals and 100 distinct stories of identity, choice, change and growth. It builds on TECNO’s long-term work in inclusive imaging, where truthful representation begins with ensuring that people across different skin tones can be rendered naturally, fairly and accurately.

The Kenya chapter of this project is now live. As AI increasingly shapes how people are captured, recognized and represented, “100 Portraits of Becoming” extends the conversation beyond inclusive representation of human diversity toward a better understanding of the people’s individuality behind the image.

Each participant brings a personal perspective shaped by their own experiences, opening a different way of seeing humanity rather than standing in for a generation, a culture or a single definition of progress.

A Shared Human-Centered Vision

“100 Portraits of Becoming” grew from a shared belief between TECNO and Dass: both technology and portraiture should begin with respect for the person in front of the lens. Universal Tone was developed around a clear imaging challenge of inclusivity— how to represent people across diverse skin tones more naturally and accurately — but behind that technical work is a broader human value: differences should be represented faithfully rather than flattened into a single standard. That belief closely resonates with Dass’s long-standing practice of questioning labels and inviting viewers to see the individual beyond appearance.

How people are seen shapes how people are understood. As AI becomes increasingly capable of recognizing faces, generating images and organizing people into categories, the deeper challenge for imaging is to reflect the complexity, individuality and humanity of the person being seen.

“100 Portraits of Becoming” expands that conversation beyond visual representation, creating space for individual stories and encounters. It is not simply an archive of photographs, but a growing record of human possibilities: people defining themselves beyond inherited labels, social expectations or predetermined categories.

Reflecting on the Kenya chapter, Angélica Dass said, “Kenya showed me that meaningful portraits are never created by technology alone. They begin with trust, with listening, and with the generosity of the people who choose to stand in front of the camera. The camera is simply the tool that allows those encounters to be shared.”

For TECNO, this marks the next step in a long-held belief about imaging: technology should be inclusive and help people be represented accurately and seen more truthfully. “Truthful representation is the foundation of genuine human understanding,” said Jack Guo, General Manager, TECNO. “Every image shapes assumptions – why it matters, who matters and how people are understood. That makes fair and accurate representation increasingly important in the AI era. But beyond representation lies a bigger question: who is the real person behind the image or the labels put on him or her?”

Kenya Opens the First Chapter

The first chapter of “100 Portraits of Becoming” begins in Kenya, where participants explore what it means to define their own lives. Across the opening 20 stories, participants question ideas that often seem settled — what success looks like, where opportunity comes from, who gets to occupy space, what makes a career meaningful, and ultimately who has the right to define a life.

Alex Mutua Muli’s story begins with going back home and creating opportunities for people to stay. Growing up, he watched fruit from his community go to waste because farmers lacked reliable markets. Many young people choose to leave for bigger cities. Instead of leaving to look for opportunities elsewhere, he stayed and co-founded Goshen Farm Exporters, helping connect the local community to larger markets and turning staying into a more viable future.

Alexander Odhiambo approached opportunity from a different place. After a difficult start to his career, he and his friends built a software company from a small Nairobi apartment. What began as creating an opportunity for themselves gradually grew into a business serving African markets and opening new paths for local talent.

Jelimo Cheboi’s story is about creating space. When she took up skateboarding in 2022, she quickly found herself in a scene with little room for women. She went on to co-found GirlSkate Nairobi, growing a WhatsApp group into a community where girls and women could skate, connect and express themselves more freely.

Alex, Alexander and Jelimo are three of 20 people in the Kenya chapter. Their stories are different, but they share a common instinct: they do not simply accept the definitions handed to them — of where opportunity should be found, what a career should look like, who gets to belong, or what is possible. Some define themselves on their own terms. Some choose a path others might not expect. Some build new ways forward where none existed. Others expand what becomes possible for the people around them.

Together, these stories show what it can mean to define a life on one’s own terms: to decide who you are, choose how you move forward, build what you need, and widen the possibilities for others. In the Kenya chapter, becoming begins with refusing to let the world have the final word on who you can be.

From Kenya to a Global Conversation

Kenya is the first chapter of “100 Portraits of Becoming,” but the project is designed to evolve as it moves across countries. Each location brings its own social context, lived experiences and questions about identity, expectations and possibility.

In the Philippines, Saudi Arabia, Türkiye and Brazil, TECNO and Dass will continue meeting people whose stories reveal different ways of becoming — how they navigate labels, make choices, create new paths and reshape what feels possible in their own lives and communities.

Rather than applying one definition across cultures, “100 Portraits of Becoming” explores what can be learned by placing distinct individual stories side by side. Through these encounters, TECNO and Dass aim to build a broader conversation about how people want to be seen, understood and remembered in an increasingly technology-shaped world.

Next Chapter: Beyond Many Labels in the Philippines

Following Kenya, “100 Portraits of Becoming” will continue in the Philippines with “Beyond Many Labels,” featuring 20 individuals, including working solo mothers and people whose lives are closely connected to solo parenthood. Their portraits and stories look beyond societal labels such as “single mother,” “breadwinner” or “strong woman,” revealing self-growth, relationships, ambitions and everyday choices those labels can often take away.

The chapter will also explore how participants understand and practice diskarte — the ways they adapt, make choices and find practical ways forward in work, family and everyday life.

Looking ahead to the next chapter in the Philippines, Dass said, “Kenya was an extraordinary beginning to this journey. Every encounter reminded me that each place has its own stories, its own rhythms and its own beauty. I’m excited to arrive in the Philippines with the same curiosity, ready to listen, learn and discover the people who will shape the next chapter of ‘100 Portraits of Becoming’.”

One Hundred People, One Hundred Ways to See Humanity

After the Philippines, the journey will continue to Saudi Arabia later this year, followed by Türkiye and Brazil in the coming year, with each chapter adding its own cultural perspective to the project. As the collection grows, each participant will remain distinctly their own: one identity, one story and one life that does not need to stand in for an entire country, generation or community.

By the end of the two-year journey, “100 Portraits of Becoming” will form a global portrait of humanity precisely by refusing to define humanity in only one way: not one answer to what it means to be human, but one hundred ways to see it.

Fiber Node Services adds a U.S.-based path for warranty and out-of-warranty repairs, complementing Teleste’s established regional manufacturing, assembly, sales and technical support.

TURKU, Finland and CAROL STREAM, Ill., Sept. 28, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — North American cable operators now have an additional, manufacturer-authorized route for servicing Teleste Networks hardware. Teleste has appointed and trained Fiber Node Services, Inc. (FNS) as an authorized provider of warranty and out-of-warranty repairs through its U.S. repair network.

The authorization covers all Teleste Networks hardware sold in North America. It adds regional repair to a North American operating footprint that already spans manufacturing, customer-specific assembly, sales and technical support.

Teleste has supported North American operators locally for years through dedicated sales and technical support teams, backed by the company’s engineering, manufacturing and supply capabilities in Europe. Its regional footprint also includes high-volume production of the ICON amplifier family through GPV Americas in Mexico and customer-specific assembly at Teleste’s New Jersey distribution center.

“For operators, local presence should not end when equipment is delivered,” said Steve Condra, Senior Vice President of North America Sales for Teleste. “It should mean capacity when deployments grow, technical expertise when it is needed and a practical repair route throughout the life of the equipment. We have built those capabilities step by step in North America. Authorized service through FNS adds another important layer.”

By combining production in Europe and Mexico with assembly in the United States, Teleste can increase available output, shorten transportation paths for North American deliveries and retain multiple supply options as demand changes. FNS adds qualified U.S. repair capacity connected directly to Teleste’s product and engineering expertise.

FNS has specialized in the diagnostics, repair and refurbishment of CATV broadband equipment for more than 30 years. Following qualification and product-specific training by Teleste, its technicians are authorized to diagnose, repair and test Teleste Networks hardware according to Teleste’s procedures and requirements.

“Effective repair depends on more than having a repair bench close to the customer,” said Zoran Beric, CEO and President of Fiber Node Services. “It takes broadband experience, product-specific knowledge and a direct connection to the manufacturer. Our teams have already provided repair services for Teleste equipment in North America, and this authorization builds on that work. We will continue giving operators regional support for both warranty and out-of-warranty needs.”

Together, these capabilities give North American operators a shorter path to the products, people and services behind their networks—from supply and configuration through technical support and repair—while retaining access to Teleste’s broader global engineering, manufacturing and supply resources.

TrendAI™ Extends the NVIDIA Agent Safety Platform with Threat Intelligence and Full AI Factory Security

TrendAI Vision One™ pairs hardware-level detection on NVIDIA BlueField DPUs and network security with Zero Day Initiative™ threat intelligence, helping enterprises safely move agent fleets from pilot to production

DALLAS, Sept. 28, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — TrendAI™, the global leader in AI security and business unit from Trend Micro Incorporated (TYO: 4704; TSE: 4704), today announced its support for the NVIDIA Agent Safety Platform, NVIDIA’s full-stack infrastructure for running autonomous AI agents safely at enterprise scale. As organizations move autonomous, self-evolving agents into production, TrendAI™ and NVIDIA are aligned on a clear principle: no single control makes an agent secure. Security must be built into every layer the agent depends on.

AI agents are made up of three core components: the model that reasons, the harness that orchestrates the agent and its sub-agents, and the tools and data the agent can reach. Together, they let an agent hold credentials, remember context across sessions and act on production systems without a human approving each step. As enterprises scale from a handful of pilots to fleets of agents spanning teams and business units, security is now a critical control and often becomes the deciding factor in whether agentic AI reaches production.

The NVIDIA Agent Safety Platform places authority in the infrastructure beneath the agent. According to NVIDIA, OpenShell enforces policy outside the agent’s execution environment, where it cannot be prompted away or bypassed, while NVIDIA BlueField-4 DPUs and NVIDIA DOCA add a host-independent security layer in silicon. TrendAI™ complements that enforcement layer with the intelligence that informs what the policy should be, the visibility to see what agents are doing, and the threat detection and response to act on it.

“Agentic AI is the most significant shift in enterprise technology in a generation, and security needs and guardrails are in place to keep the agents aligned with the intentions of the organization,” said Rachel Jin, Chief Platform and Business Officer, Head of TrendAI™.  “Security can’t sit in one place. It has to cover the model, the harness, and every tool and data source an agent touches. NVIDIA is building the boundary that determines what an agent can do. TrendAI™ brings the threat intelligence and oversight that tell security teams what that boundary should be, and what is happening inside it. Together, we give organizations a practical path to scale agentic AI securely.”

How TrendAI ™ supports the NVIDIA Agent Safety Platform
TrendAI Vision One™ extends NVIDIA’s agent safeguards across the whole AI factory, covering agents, models, containers, storage and networks on one platform:

Model protection. Inline inspection of prompts and responses blocks prompt injection and jailbreaks and redacts sensitive data before it leaks.Harness and tool governance. Security teams control which tools and MCP servers agents can reach, inspect every tool call, and analyze how skills and AI artifacts behave at runtime.Data and identity controls. TrendAI Vision One™ finds and classifies the sensitive data that feeds AI, stops agents from reaching data they shouldn’t, extends file security and data loss prevention to the files agents read and write, and strips excess privilege from agents and other non-human identities.Hardware-rooted detection and response. Using NVIDIA BlueField DPU and DOCA telemetry, TrendAI Vision One™ detection stays trustworthy even if the host OS is compromised, and correlates AI signals with endpoint, network, and identity telemetry so a hijacked agent cannot move laterally unseen.

Together, TrendAI™ and NVIDIA are leading the future of AI with proactive security designed to inspire innovation and eliminate risk.

Addressing AI Infrastructure Constraints

Johnson Controls helps data centre operators address the most critical constraints to responsible AI growth, including power availability, water consumption and infrastructure capacity. Through an integrated portfolio of thermal management technologies, Johnson Controls optimises the entire thermal ecosystem to improve efficiency and create additional computing capacity from existing power and infrastructure resources. In a modeled design, this integrated approach can reduce non-IT energy consumption by up to 50% compared with conventional cooling methods.

Johnson Controls is creating additional AI computing capacity from energy that would otherwise be lost as waste heat. In a 1-gigawatt data centre blueprint, a Johnson Controls absorption chiller reference design demonstrated the potential to convert the 57% of energy typically lost as waste heat from on-site power generation into productive cooling, enabling up to 97 MW of additional AI computing capacity from existing power infrastructure while reducing cooling-related electrical demand by up to 44%.

“Meeting the demands of advanced computing requires a new way of thinking about infrastructure,” said Austin Domenici, president, Data Centre Solutions, Johnson Controls. “As AI workloads continue to grow, success will depend not only on computing power, but on how efficiently we manage the resources behind it. Johnson Controls brings expertise across the full thermal ecosystem, helping customers improve efficiency, reduce resource consumption and enable greater computing capacity. This collaboration is an opportunity to explore and validate new approaches to infrastructure that can support the future of AI.”

Building a Future Platform for Innovation

Beyond evaluating next-generation technologies, STDCT 2.0 will support research, talent development and industry collaboration. Johnson Controls and NUS CDE will accelerate opportunities for advanced research, workforce training, innovation and knowledge sharing to support the continued growth of the data centre sector.

“As AI drives a new wave of infrastructure demand across Asia Pacific, advancing research, developing talent and strengthening industry collaboration will be critical to meeting that growth responsibly,” said Ali Badreddine, vice president and general manager for Southeast Asia Business and Asia Pacific Data Centre Solutions, Johnson Controls. “STDCT 2.0 brings these elements together to help advance AI-ready infrastructure across Singapore and the broader Asia Pacific region.”

“AI is fundamentally changing the design envelope for data centres, with much higher rack densities placing unprecedented demands on cooling, power, controls and resource efficiency,” said Professor Lee Poh Seng, programme director of the Sustainable Tropical Data Centre Testbed and head of the Department of Mechanical Engineering at NUS CDE. “STDCT 2.0 is designed to move beyond individual technologies and evaluate how these systems can be integrated and optimised as one infrastructure platform under real tropical operating conditions.
