WUHAN, China, March 3, 2025 /PRNewswire/ — A report from Changjiang Daily.

On March 1, Wang Jiong, Vice General Manager and Chief Brand Officer of Dongfeng Motor’s Mengshi Automobile Technology Company (MHERO TECH), took the Dongfeng MHERO 917 through a series of extreme challenges at the company’s test track.

The MHERO 917 showcased its rugged durability: resisting hammer strikes, accelerating from 0-100 km/h in under six seconds, fording 900mm of water, and tackling extreme inclines with ease.

The exhilarating live showcase captivated global audiences, with netizens praising the vehicle’s rugged strength: “Unmatched power! It speaks for itself.” and “A true warrior, built to endure.”

This event marked the third session of the “China Auto Valley • Press Conference on the Global Launch of Wuhan-Made Auto Brands.” Combining hardcore off-road performance with cutting-edge smart technology, the livestream not only highlighted the company’s diverse product lineup, technical expertise, and strong brand identity but also reinforced its ambition to lead the luxury electric off-road market.

Pioneering global and national records

A true off-road beast, the Dongfeng MHERO 917 has conquered some of the world’s most challenging terrains. It has scaled the Tengger Desert sinkholes, traversed the ancient Keliya Trail, and reached the summit of the world’s tallest sand dune in the Kumukuli Desert, setting eight industry-first records in China.

Among these milestones, Wang highlighted a particularly grueling test: 21 consecutive high-speed jumps on solid pavement. “This test pushes the limits of a vehicle’s chassis strength and air suspension durability. While the vehicle remained unscathed, the human drivers struggled to endure the impacts—one even joked that his back was about to give out!” he recounted.

Beyond these achievements, the MHERO 917 is also the world’s first luxury new energy off-road vehicle available in both extended-range and pure electric powertrain options.

Redefining luxury off-roading with 450+ patents

“Innovation is the key to real strength,” Wang Jiong emphasized.

The company doesn’t just boast raw power; it also leads in intelligence and innovation. Its M TECH intelligent off-road architecture is China’s first independently developed luxury electric off-road technology platform, holding over 450 patents, including 11 industry-first technologies.

The MEGA POWER generates over 1,000 horsepower, accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in just 4.2 seconds, with a maximum climb gradient of 100%.

Meanwhile, the MATS all-terrain system intelligently adapts driving modes to different environments, lowering the barrier to off-road driving and shattering the myth that “pure EVs can’t handle off-roading.”

Partnering with Huawei on its new model

To cater to diverse user needs, the company has introduced a “One Car, One Price, One Driver, One Experience” personalized customization service, ushering in an era of highly tailored off-road vehicles. With over 180 off-road accessories and modification kits, users can build their own ultra-capable MHERO for any scenario.

Looking ahead, the company plans to unveil an extended-wheelbase luxury edition of the MHERO 917 at the Shanghai Auto Show in April. A new intelligent electric off-road vehicle, co-developed with Huawei, is set to launch in the second half of the year.

From China’s Auto Valley to global stage

Rooted in Wuhan, expanding across China, and now reaching international markets, MHERO has officially entered the European and Middle Eastern markets. The MHERO 917 is already available in Switzerland, Spain, and the UAE, and its global variant, the MHERO I, has received new vehicle certification in the EU, Russia, the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS), and the Gulf region, covering 40 countries and regions worldwide.

As MHERO drives China’s automotive innovation forward, it aims to make the world not only recognize “Made in China” but also embrace “Made in Wuhan.” The MHERO brand is ready to leave its mark across the globe.
